I think it illustrates another thing - something I've brought up in the past when these type of videos surface...

Where is all of the public support for these truthers? Truthers love to point at polls that show a large portion of the population believes the 9/11 conspiracy nonsense. When one of these crackpots raises these questions, where are the supporters in the audience who applaud him? Where are the people who stand up with them when they get escorted out? Why does it seem like the entire audience applauds when these nuts are herded out of the room?

Even more interesting is the fact that they aren't even in hostile territory! They aren't at a McCain rally - they are preaching to folks that they beleive share the same views (see also: Maher, etc).

How blind do they have to be to not realize that overwhelming majority of the public doesn't only not believe them, but thinks they are loony?

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Outside of the internet - and with the exception of a relative handful of crackpots - the Truth Movement just doesn't seem to even exist.

This is my video edit of an insane truther heckling leftist journalist Amy Goodman of Democracy Now. The leftist audience who came out to honor Goodman (see below) was not amused.

Though not recent, this confrontation was of interest to me for two reasons. (1) It shows the antipathy of most of the left to the Truth Movement and (2) the truther is especially crazed and agitated in his behavior even by truther standards.

(Interestingly, the “don’t tase me, bro” incident happened a few months later at another Florida university.)

"Truthers", by definition, are delusional. Their behavior betrays them. Sincere seekers of truth have no need for temper tantrums. Evidence presented logically and rhetorically shall speak for itself.

Look again at the examples offered in this thread. Those who posed their questions respectfully in the allotted time were given respectful answers. Perhaps they weren't the answers that they were looking for, yet thoughtful and respectful answers were returned. Compare and contrast that with the reception that mindlessly loud repetition of incoherent slogans gets. Do you see the result? Is that the result that the Truth Movement wants to achieve?

A useful definition of an insane person is when that person does the exact same thing repeatedly yet expects a different result.

The truther in the video is demented because (a) he interrupted Goodman during her speech (he didn’t wait for the Q&A session, if there was one) and (b) he was acting in an agitated, obnoxious and immature manner in a public place. (Keep in mind that audience paid to hear Goodman speak.) The a-hole whipped out a friggin’ bullhorn for Christ’s sake!

If anyone was acting like a soccer hooligan, it was the truther not me. If you honestly think that idiot’s behavior was an appropriate way to engage “arguments over real, world-changing events“, you are as demented as he is.

If truthers act this way in public, they are going to be mocked, scorned and ridiculed …i.e, satirized. Like this.

I hate to say anything good about Twoofers, but 99.9% of them would blanch at a bombing like OKlahoma City. Whether it is from conscience or cowardice I will not venture to say.

Well, let's examine the evidence at hand concerning this person.

Firts of all he stands up and interrupts the speaker the crowd came to hear. They did not come to hear him.
Goodman excuses his rudeness and attempts to engage him. Instead he shouts her down demanding, over a bullhorn, that she state that 9/11 was an inside job. When both Goodman and the crowd demonstrate that they will have none of his spoutings he fights and demands to control the affair.
These are not the actions of a calm, collected and sane person. Indeed they could be the actions of someone suffering from demnetia that gives them a enlarged sense of entitlement and importance.

Goodman, Hitchens and Chomsky, all very much not in favor of the present administration, and all deep thinkers, do not hold any stock in the 9/11 TM and quite obviously Hitchens feels the adherents to the 9/11 TM are delusional(unless you can find some nice spin for "crackpot Nazi")

Kevin Barrett spouts off to Goodman many well debunked topics such as the supposed 'countdown' to WTC 7's demise. He believes quite obviously that the fact that Goodman was there , in lower Manhattan, on 9/11 is somehow significant. To that end he is ignoring the fact that she works in the area.

Indeed every single solitary 'truther' that I have had the fortune to encounter is not only able but also more than willing, to ignore many facts in order to continue their belief. It is akin to fundementalist religious belief, IMO.

So is the person in the first video demented? Well he certainly acts demented. Are all 'truthers' demented? That is probably hyperbole, however typical 'trutherism' is a religious fundementalsit belief that ignores anything that disagrees with it or invents hugely complex, often magical, explanations to account for them.

Seeing how aggressive some of the truthers are at Ground Zero and other places, I am honestly surprised that there haven't been tons of altercations already. I'm not talking about with debunkers, but with regular citizens, most of whom - let's face it - don't care about the truth movement.

When a truther and a debunker engage in an argument/debate, they both seem to have an idea of what they are engaging in. But truthers at who rant at GZ, invade college campuses, and interupt speeches are attacking random members of the public - these could be off-duty firemen, people who lost loved ones in the tragedy, or just somebody who is having a bad day. Is it a stretch to think that one of these folks may take offence to being labeled a "sheep" or a "zombie"?

I am not advocating violence at all, I'm just saying that I'm surprised that truthers haven't antagonized people to that extent, yet.
