Not quite as convoluted, but yesterday I had a user ask if he could email me a pdf so that I could print it, scan it, and then email it to someone else. Not entirely illogical if, say, he needed to sign or stamp the hard copy and then scan and email
that version. When I asked if he needed to do something to the printed version before emailing it, he was confused until I explained that if there was to be no change, he could simply email the pdf that he already had to the next person himself. In his defense, he was appropriately embarrassed for not thinking of that.
(Not a system admin. QA document control for a pharma company, but the main printer/scanner on this end of the building is in the document control room, which is a limited access area, so I am also the person who helps everyone with their printing and scanning needs when they don't want to walk to the other end of the building.)
At my previous job, I provided user support for the company's electronic document management system, which morphed into user support for MS Office and Adobe Acrobat and whatever other software was needed to use the EDMS. I appreciate this thread.
