David Horrowitz encounters genocidal Muslim student.

Definition of irony: Being lectured on how a modern enlightened democracy should wage war by someone whose country is a democracy today because my country and our allies invaded his and forced it on them (our veterans say "You're welcome", by the way).

The girl didn't say she wanted to kill Horowitz, personally.

Because you disagree with Horowitz' politics, this makes what she said a bit more OK?

I do not shed a tear when bastard and jerks are harrassed. Sorry.

Okay, so thus far we have as a response to the girl's statement:

1. The atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

2. The guy asking the the question being a jerk (if I understood parky/Thunder right).

Neither of which excuses the woman's statement.

From what I read about it on the Wiki, it's like the swastika -- originally a harmless, ancient symbol, now seen just as much as a symbol of hatred.

I take it that HAMAS supporters shouldn't wear it more than Nazis should use the swastika.

um...THat hasn't been the only response.
I can't believe that actually is the student's teacher defending her.
This speech was done at a College campus. She engaged someone in open debate. there is no Coddling. If she was "manipulated" to answer in a way she didn't intend, that is her fault. Certainly it was clear that she was agitated and put on the defensive. That in those situations, one tends to lash out. But that should be a good lesson for her, not a pat on the head coddling. That's insulting and condescending to the student. Teacher, treat her like the adult you are supposed to be educating.

I hope, if she is the moral, peace loving person the teacher claims her to be, she will learn something of herself in this experience. To show how one can easily turn to a statement of hate and perhaps reconsider why she defensively agreed to the rounding up of Jews.

chilling.

You know, it's funny... whenever a Neo-Nazi says something bad about, well, anyone, he or she is universally condemned, but when it's a Muslim doing or saying something offensive, everyone is so terrified of coming across as racist that they invent the most ridiculous loopholes to excuse the behaviour.

Especially ridiculous since Islam is an ideology and not a race.

I'm not certain who this is directed at.

I guess he meant responses that to some degree sought to excuse this young woman. You did indeed sum up quite nicely the obvious common sense reaction.

I would add that you can have sympathy for the Palestinians while at the same time categorically rejecting the methods of Hamas. I don't see how you can condemn Hamas' methods without condemning Hamas. Your actions define you, and that goes for organizations as well as individuals. This really isn't hard.

Just as a disclaimer, I didn't mean to compare Islam to Neo-Nazism, though some people feel the comparison apt;). All I'm saying is that if we are to agree anti-Semitism is bad, then we should confront it equally no matter who spouts it.

Society in general. Certainly not you:).

What she said was so outrageously appalling that I find myself thinking that it is plausible that she doesn't really believe what she said. That she started from a weak position and wasn't getting anywhere so she just, metaphorically speaking, blew herself up along with the conversation as a quick way of getting out of it.

At least that would make her apparent advocacy of genocide reconcilable with her professors characterization of her.

I stopped watching this video as soon as she said "Homeland Security". If Horowitz chooses to engage in debates with self-righteous, self-created martyrs, that is his problem and his fault.

secondly, if Horowitz had just simply answered this idiot's question about any purported link between the MSAs and Hamas, none of this would have occured.

Horowitz is clearly looking for attention..and was happy to bring on a fight. That's why he deserves what he gets.
