Cuomo defeated in NYC Democratic Mayoral Primary

As I think about it, you could argue that the parties have been done a half doesn't times since the civil war. That is unless you are going to argue that he Dems are still the party of slavery and Jim Crow while the GOP is still the party of Teddy Rosevelt. The Dems are the party that got us into very major war from the WWI through Vietnam.

I don't think the statement "The Dems are the party that got us into very(sp) major from the WWI through Vietnam" is really accurate. They were in office, but they didn't instigate the wars, which is what I feel like that's implying.

I'll openly admit the parties have changed, even flipped but there's always been 2. There will always be at least 2. The statements that a party has collapsed, is collapsing or will not be in power for a decade are unfounded and nonsensical.

I'm just saying they're a bit parties of theseus. How much change over time can there be before they aren't the same party.

The Democrat Party is in shambles. Expect Republican rule for the next decade. Normal people are only willing to go so far.
Serious question here: are you calling the party that as a way to make it sound less appetizing, or are you calling it that because you do not know what it is called? There is no such thing as the "Democrat Party" and there never was. I know it's a small thing, but I find it difficult to take seriously anything stated by a person who cannot say such simple things correctly.

Imagine how you would feel if I left, say, the "L" out of the Republican party. Get a life.

Official results of the ranked choice tabulation were just released:

Mamdani - 56%
Cuomo - 44%

The Dems are always in disarray, the GOP is always on the brink of destruction, and so on. It never changes.

Let me guess what will happen next. The Dems will get the House in the midterms for sure, it's possible they'll get the Senate (especially after pissing off every race that isn't white by deporting their family) and things will go on like normal. No party is ever "done" in the US, even more so when there are only two.
The Trump supporters from minorities will somehow manage to look past the deportation of their friends, family and neighbours and continue to vote Republican because *reasons*

I don't believe so because families are a step too far, but I'm surprised all of the time by US voters.

That's ignorant ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊. Legal immigrants in the US are among the groups most-strongly opposed to illegal immigration.

Legal immigrants are getting ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ deported, buddy. You might want to learn to read the ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ room. Trump literally announced a plan to strip naturalized citizens of their citizenship within the last week. "Legal Immigrant" means nothing to this administration and you bringing it up is a God damn joke. Just because you and your echo chamber say this ◊◊◊◊ doesn't make it true. I think you're going to be shocked at how legal immigrants vote next time around, and probably the time after that.

Mamdani is in trouble

Trump threatens to arrest Mamdani and then adds, "a lot of people are saying he's here illegally"

Who are these "lots of people", Donny? Do you mean your advisers, the ones in the black shirts?

Q: You message to communist Zohran Mamdani?

TRUMP: Well then, we'll have to arrest him

So being wrongfully and baselessly accused of being some nebulous sort of "communist" is a perfectly good reason for being arrested in Trump's America. OK, then!

Not only is McCarthy grinning in his grave, this opens up the door for all sorts of neighbour-on-neighbour swatting exercises, etc. And federal departments getting competing departments arrested. Even ICE won't be immune - there's likely communist cells embedded in there as well. Everybody will soon be arresting everybody else. What fun it will be!

Legal immigrants are being targeted by Trump. Even naturalized ones that are now citizens. Trump is declaring war on immigrants.

It's a common phenomenon that the newest member of a group tries the hardest to fit in.
And pulling up the ladder behind you is a universal human trait

Interview with Mamdani, where he defends the slogan, "globalize the Intifada":

He explained what it means, not what you think it does.
And there is a difference between a slogan and actions.
Mamdani got a big chunk of the Jewish Vote in the Primary, suggesting that they are not worried.

And neither are all the people who said they would leave NY if he won, or they would have done it.
If this is all they have found to prove he's an antisemite, it's a very lame sauce - you won't find a US politician who in their career hasn't once said something atrocious.
Thia is all manufactured.

No, it's not "a universal human trait."
Immigrants, recent or long established, didn't think Trump was going to do what he's actually doing. What they heard and acknowledged was that he was going to do something about gangs like MS-13 and the immigrants allegedly eating pets, which they knew that nobody actually did, so they considered it to be mere rhetoric and voted for him because they thought he would lower the price of eggs.

Here is the thing.
The PRESIDENT of your country is threatening to arrest and deport a democratically chosen member of the opposition.

And yet the discussion is about the opponent's views? Whether recent immigrants oppose other immigrants?
You know where opponents get arrested for their views? Iran. Russia. Venezuela. Turkey. China. etc etc.
And are the 'small government' Republicans either posting here or anywhere in the US in uproar about this?
You know, the bit where the government is telling people who they can vote for?
The same posters here always harping on the oppression of Europe because we have some limits on free speech?
