Cuomo defeated in NYC Democratic Mayoral Primary

'Needs to be deported': MAGA lawmaker urges feds to strip Mamdani's citizenship (MSN.com/Raw Story, June 27, 2025)
"Zohran 'little muhammad' Mamdani is an antisemitic, socialist, communist who will destroy the great City of New York," railed Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) in a Thursday post on X. "He needs to be deported. Which is why I am calling for him to be subject to denaturalization proceedings."

I think that this is what they used to call Ausbürgerung (Wikipedia) in East Germany.

Mamdani blamed Netanhayu and Israel the day after the October 7 attacks
Just so no one here is deceived by Brainster's framing: Mamdani did not blame Netanyahu and Israel for the October 7 attacks. Rather, he said that the actions of Israel and Netanyahu will lead to more suffering and death, which it did. There is only something controversial here for those who want to be offended.

As a rule, I'd say they can't rarely compete efficiently. What they can do is draw on taxes to undercut competition and often government bans the competition.

ETA: I think Mamdami's idea is that they'd be exempt from taxes rather that get subsidized.
Which is why america has the most efficient health care system in the developed world. It must be the best as it is the most profitable and therefore most efficient.

Bit of a non-sequitur unless you want to compare it to places with state operate health care providers. The US has plenty of those, lots of cities run hospitals. Its an uncommon system around the world though. Most countries, even those with universal coverage aren't strictly state operated healthcare systems. Most places, the state just pays for the coverage but NGOs of one type or another provide most of it.

And all at vastly worse efficiency than the US system, this the basics of free market ideology so it has to be right, to suggest otherwise would be heresy.

Cuomo will win if Herr Trump has Momdani denaturalized and deported, which he is now threatening. Momdani has made a lot of enemies in the neo-fascist right-wing Jewish community.

Yes, we know he's pro-Hamas and pro-Iran.

But this is good news! It would be a little too obvious if there were another IF terror attack on New York during his tenure. Ironically, electing him will make New York safer.

In the short term, anyway.

I don't believe he is pro-Hamas.

He is definitely against Israeli apartheid and war crimes, but so is anyone with a heart and a soul.

According to Michael Wolff, Trump blamed Netanyahu for Oct 7.

The Democrat Party is in shambles. Expect Republican rule for the next decade. Normal people are only willing to go so far.

Yes, we're familiar with pro-Hamas equivocation rhetoric. You're not doing him any favors, defending him on your terms.
I am being honest about his views, and not paying games like you are.

I see no evidence that he supports terrorism or any terrorists, such accusations are libelous and pathetic.

The Dems are always in disarray, the GOP is always on the brink of destruction, and so on. It never changes.

Let me guess what will happen next. The Dems will get the House in the midterms for sure, it's possible they'll get the Senate (especially after pissing off every race that isn't white by deporting their family) and things will go on like normal. No party is ever "done" in the US, even more so when there are only two.

The Whigs are.

ETA: So, there's hope but at the least, the parties are realigning so what they will be 10 years from now will be very different than what they were 10 years ago.

As I think about it, you could argue that the parties have been done a half doesn't times since the civil war. That is unless you are going to argue that he Dems are still the party of slavery and Jim Crow while the GOP is still the party of Teddy Rosevelt. The Dems are the party that got us into very major war from the WWI through Vietnam.

Historians/political scientists refer to these realignments as "party systems". Eg, the fifth party system was the period from the New Deal through 1980 or so.

The weird thing is that these political shifts usually correspond to major swings in control of congress. Right now we're pretty obviously going through a major political realignment, but partisan control hasn't changed much. It's like a magician pulling a tablecloth out from under the silverware.
