Cue the antivaxxers in 5... 4... 3... 2... 1...

Do note the Canadian news is behind on reporting that she even had a pre-existing condition at all. Instead, they reported on CBC news radio that Canada Health is just downplaying the child's death by saying that we don't use Cervarix in Canada, in Canada they offer Gardasil.

DOWNPLAYING!!!

I thought CBC had a pretty good report on Tuesday night, before the tumour story broke. The article on their website mentioning the tumour is dated at 10:30 EDT Thursday morning, so they were somewhat behind the story.

From Australia on anti vax

Crackpots: the noisy minority. ..

A former federal health minister has dismissed as "crackpots and conspiracy theorists" those who would actively discourage Australians from having their swine flu vaccine.

Dr Michael Wooldridge says the anti-vaccination movement was leading a push against Australians taking up the offer of the free vaccine, but their opposition was putting more people at risk.

"We are of course dealing with the first pandemic of the internet age which poses its own problems," says Dr Wooldridge, who says a misinformation campaign was now underway on the internet.

"The number of people who are actively opposed to immunisation is tiny, in the order of two per cent, but that group is disproportionately heard.

"Their message is poisonous and insidious ... they sow seeds of doubt in the public's mind about what is essentially the single greatest advance in public health in the last 200 years," Dr Wooldridge says.

"This group has the potential to do enormous damage, and my personal view is they should treated as the crackpots and conspiracy theorists that they are," says Dr. Wooldridge.

I am assuming these are annual death rates? If that is the case, it corresponds to a DAILY death rate of 1 in about 3 million. I think that is an interesting observation, that 1 in 3 million 12 year old girls dies every day.

Of course, if you group them all together, that means that 1 in less than a million (about 700K) 12 - 15 year old girls die every day.

As such, it should not be a surprise to find out that about one in a million girls this age who get the flu shot die, in fact, the day they get it.
The grouping together does rather confuse the maths.

If an individual in that age range has a ~1 in 3 million chance of dying per day, then that's the relevant figure to use for calculating the chances of an individual dying on the day they get an injection.
The odds of a given individual dying don't vary depending how many other people of whatever ages may also be being vaccinated.

Damn!
This vaccine can cause tumours of the heart and lungs that kill in a matter of hours!
But so far, it seems only to kill young , female Christians.
So bombing Iranian Ayatollahs with the stuff is maybe not the next step for the NWO?

I don't consider myself a crackpot or conspiracy theorist but, whilst I wouldn't force my opinion on others, I wouldn't have the swine flu vaccine....just as I wouldn't have the 'normal' flu vaccine or the chicken pox vaccine as these are all things (the illness that is, not the vaccine) that would make me ill for a few days and then I'd be fine so why go to the time, trouble and expense. Also I do tend to have a 'Why interfere if your body can sort itself out on its own?' attitude and a general, and not necessarily (completely) rational, view that we're making ourselves too dependent on medical treatment for every little thing.

NB I am not anti-establishment (medical or otherwise) and am totally pro conventional medicine where needed.

There is a tendency on this board to view anyone who is not fanatically pro vaccination as some kind of 'crackpot' and, at its worst, to drop skepticism altogether when it comes to the (small) danger vaccinations can pose.

Flu and chicken pox can both kill you.

Firstly, as Capsid says, both flu and chickenpox can kill. Secondly, the major benefit of vaccination is not to yourself, but to society as a whole. If enough people are vaccinated, the disease can not become established and the net effect is far more than the sum of the individual vaccinations. This is especially important when it comes to people who cannot be vaccinated through no fault of their own, people for whom the vaccine is ineffective, people with compromised immune systems, and so on. Don't you think it at all selfish of you to ignore everyone else just because you think you'll probably be OK?

Also I do tend to have a 'Why interfere if your body can sort itself out on its own?' attitude

Which is rather a stupid attitude given the number of diseases around that the body certainly can't sort out itself.

and a general, and not necessarily (completely) rational, view that we're making ourselves too dependent on medical treatment for every little thing.

Not completely rational? It's not even vaguely rational. If you want to live in the dark ages where you would be expected to live half as long as you are now, where children and mothers died at birth as a matter of course and where things like TB, polio and the plague were a normal part of life, that's your choice. I'd much rather depend on modern medicine to keep me fit and healthy than die young of an easily preventable disease. When people like you try to stop me from doing so, don't expect everyone to keep quiet about it.

NB I am not anti-establishment (medical or otherwise) and am totally pro conventional medicine where needed.

Apparently not.

No, there is a tendency to view anyone who states bizarre beliefs like yours as some kind of crackpot. There is no problem with people pointing out the danger of vaccination, and there have been perfectly legitimate discussions about where the line should be drawn for the cost/benefit ratio. It's the people who use a minuscule danger as an excuse for their irrational decisions that get criticised. For example, would you care to tell us what the danger of the vaccine under discussion is? In case you haven't been following, we're talking about a free vaccine given during school time that has never killed anyone. Where exactly is the time, trouble and expense?

With H1N1, as with the 1918 flu pandemic, this attitude is particularly dangerous. The way this particular virus behaves actually impacts those who are healthy and have a strong immune system more severely than others. In layterms, it causes your immune system to go into overdrive, and actually attack your own body. I would suggest you rethink that strategy.

Yes, and if you survive chicken pox you may develop shingles decades later. I am given to believe that shingles will have you wishing you were dead.
