I notice a lot of whataboutism here. I.e., the rather weird symbol at CPAC 2021, that MAY have deliberate Fascistic overtones has pointed out by some. (I think it is a rather unfortunate coincidence.) So what do we get we get whataboutism. i.e., you guys do it also.
We get the usual guys your hurting the feelings of Trump supporters by calling them Nazis! Aside from the fact "we" were not doing so, "we" were simply saying that the symbol seems to have unfortunate implications, again probably not deliberate in my opinion. It is also a fact some of Trump's supporters are Nazis anyway.
And when faced with the fact of the majority of Republicans rushing to submit, abjectly, to the Orange one, in a way that indicates something much to like a cult of personality. We get more whataboutism.
After this absurd election campaign and Trump's utterly cold-blooded attempt to disavowe the results via fraudulent claims of fraud, that were transparently baseless. More than 60 wasted Court efforts based on idiotic claims. (And the indications are that Trump vowed to claim fraud if he lost before the election.) Then we have Trump's efforts to rally his supporters to pressure elected officials to disavowe the results in a truly outrageous fashion. And of course Trump tried to pressure election officials to get the "true" election results! Climaxing in the January 6th insurrection, which Trump did incite and during which he did little to nothing to stop the insurrection.
All of the above is quite disgusting. then we have Trump since Jan. 6th still saying the election was stolen!! All of this should have at the least pushed Trump out of politics. Instead we see Trump still supported by the majority of Republicans. We see media people like Hannity and Carlson gush all over him in interviews, like he is some sort of Saint / Messiah. And of course we have seen Republican politicians come crawling to him. From Graham to Cruz to MacConnell to McCarthy. All beating down the door to submit. And of course Trump will be planning his revenge on those who "betrayed" him.
(After the second Impeachment trial MacConnell said Trump was guilty, but he voted to acquit for technical reasons. Recently MacConell has said that if Trump was the Republican candidate again he would support him. Submission to the Glorious Leader I guess.)
What I see here is a cult of personality and there is no whataboutism about this.
