Coulter, "Our blacks are better than their blacks"

Coulter has made similar statements before. I saw her on a show once where she claimed that she could tell, just by looking at them (by their body language, apparently), that interracial couples in the North get married primarily to show how progressive they are, and seem to have a big chip on their shoulders about it. But that interracial couples in the South you can tell are by looking at them just married because they genuinely love eachother, and don't even care about the fact that they are different races.

Really? I'm from NC & my wife is from VT so I wonder what she makes of us?

When the current right stops trying to convert the USA into a Christian Analog of Afghanistan, maybe the moderates like me will stop "saying the worst".

This is so beyond absurd paranoia that we should be talking about it in terms of a real irrational fear if at all.

My grandmother whispered the word pregnant and now we've got gay marriage and you want to tell me about Afghanistan?!

The Dividing.

See: Post #51. Her boyfriend is (was) supposedly Jimmy J.J. Walker (believe it or not) but i'm not convinced they ever actually dated. All the articles i've seen say they were "close friends" but never confirmed they indeed dated.

And again, does that mean she can't possibly play the race card or make racist statements?

And if the religious right had their way, there would be no gay marriage & people would whisper the word pregnant.

Now then, aside from agreeing with an ideology, what makes the right's blacks "better"?

What most concerns me about this House Divided is how quickly and utterly without hesitation The Left always says All The Worst about The Right.

Politics by shameless name-calling, character attacks and impugning motivations; The Politics of Personal Destruction.

Instead of talking directly about issues, every issue must always be additionally and usually tangentially argued unnecessarily by countering the assumed pejorative by which Democrats always label an opposing opinion. In fact, the argument rarely gets past it to get any further. Why argue the merits of the issue when you can argue the meritlessness of the racist Republicans? It is a amoral, immoral Machiavellian political philosophy and attitude. Truth doesn't matter more than defeating them matters.

It's not a party thing. It's an individual thing.

As if all members of one party or group or race are racist and all members of another party or group or race are not?!

Yet a great many Lefties still insist on constantly accusing their neighbors on the Right of being the worst of people they can think of.

The Right thinks that The Left is wrong. The Left hates The Right. Except for agreeing with anything I would ever say, half of you would otherwise readily admit as much.

I don't see this House Divided recovering from this. I see only disaster ahead. Our differences are irreconcilable I'm afraid and what we had is irretrievable. It's gone. Last Days of the Republic, Mr. Franklin.

These are the days of the dividing.
What a rant. I'm not sure where to begin responding.

First, do you suppose the kind of unity Mr. Franklin argued for was a unanimity of points of view on these kinds of issues? Or was he talking about joining together as a single federal nation (as opposed to a looser confederation of sovereign states or colonies)? Do you think our country would be better if there weren't a diversity of opinions on the issues that separate "right" from "left"?

Second, was it not the "Politics of Personal Destruction" when Clinton was subject to great scrutiny?

And finally, perhaps most importantly, does any of this grand arm waving about "The Right" and "The Left" change the fact that Coulter played the race card? Is it somehow wrong to point out how absurd her statements are?

Let me fix this for you,

And if the religious right had their way, there would be no gay interracial marriage.

I add edit because as I reread my post it appears I might not approve of interacial or gay marriage. That is not my case, as my folks were upset when I dated girl not from China. I prefer anyone to be able to marry who they chose.

Is there a reason that you are so very hung up on this that you've repeated at least a dozen times in the last few months? I posted a dozen or two times on it a year ago and that was the greatest extent of my concern, which is obviously far less than your oh-so-clever :cough cough: yet again. Why are you still so concerned about the matter?

I think it might be indicative of your willingness to blindly believe right wing conspiracy theories based more on ideology rather thn reason. Just a guess.

Her boyfriend is a famous black actor and comedian. She is not racist. At least they dated for a while. I think they are still dating.

Yeah, the Liberal Talking Heads in the mainstream media don't talk about that much.
And Strom Thurmond wasn't a racist either.

The shorter version: what Coulter said was racist, waves arms.

Ehhhh.... Seeing as BET nightly news has never reported this relationship I too reserve my right to remain skeptical. Though it is not unreasonable that he might've "hit it".

ETA: For everyone who cares to know, JJ Walker has been married to Jere Fields for the past 31 years. There has been no reported divorce between the two of them and as far as many tabloid sources are concerned, they are still happily married. It makes me wonder why someone would put this out about Ann Coulter and JJ Walker dating in the first place. I'm sure they have gone out to a few occasions together, but I'm fairly certain it was nothing more than a friendly date or two. Noting I would get myself riled over.

I used hold out some hope that Ann's L'enfant terrible schtick was just that, but as time progessed it became more and more clear that she actually believes the crazy that comes out of her brain.

Are you referring to science? You've questioned science?

For what it's worth, judging by the threads JudeBrando has started in the Science, Mathematics, Medicine, and Technology forum he appears to question science quite a bit. But his questioning seems to be motivated by Creationist thinking, though when challenged he'll not lay claim to that belief directly and instead tries to dance around it.

Sounds about right. ;) Probably just a rumor that got some legs.

I'm sure that there would be enough actually attractive women interested in Walker that he would not have to lower his standards that much.

Ouch

Coulter is attractive but she's just a nut case. That does detract from her looks a bit.

. . . (snip) . . . I've only questioned The New Orthodoxy. Question the New Authorities. I've not advocated anything. You're seeing things. . . . (snip) . . .

This portion of your post was in response to my assertion that your are a creationist. In so asserting, I am certainly not seeing things, unless, of course, you and the JudeBrando who posted on a thread initiated by Epix on the religion and philosophy forum titled "Why evolution is dangerous nonsense" are two different people who simply have the same name and use the same avatar.

In that thread you (or that other JudeBrando) lauded the book The Long War Against God by Henry Morris, young earth creationist and head of the Institute for Creation Research. This book, for those on this forum unfamiliar with it, asserts that evolutionary theory was inspired by Satan as a major tactic in his war against God.

So, Jude, please don't insult my intelligence by telling me I'm seeing things when I assert that you are a creationist.

Really? Because I've seen you lie about breast cancer to promote your agenda and lie about the credentials of people who you quote. I've seen you quote people (like Morris) claiming that anyone who doesn't believe in God has no capability of being a moral person.

I have also seen you lie, repeatedly, regarding evolutionary facts (such as claiming that transitional fossils don't exist). I've also seen you promoting the views of people (Morris) who are such bad liars that they actually claim things as ridiculous as every civilization in the history of the world has had a 6 day work week, and that this is proof of God, because God commanded the Sabbath be holy!

I've seen you quote scientists whose claims are easily proven as lies, and theologians whose views are easily proven as lying, and bigoted.

You have no problem lying when it suits your agenda, and claiming that anyone who doesn't think like you or share your beliefs is, by default, inherently evil.

You are like Holden Caufield. The traits you claim to be most against are ones that you actually possess in spades. It fine to lie and base your entire argument on ad hominum attacks, as long as it's your sides that does it.

And the left is the only one who hates, hmmm? Yeah, you're right. The right never goes to rallies with pictures of Obama with a Hitler mustache, comparing socialized healthcare to sticking Jews into ovens. They never yell "marxist" and "communist" to try and shut down debates. They never shoot up unitarian churches, or shoot congresswomen. They never make fun of a man with parkinson's for arguing in favor of stemcell treatment. They never advocate stripping away rights from homosexuals, women, and non Christians. They never advocate beating your children if they show homosexual tendencies.

They never do any of those things.

And by the way, I'm not saying that all Republicans do do those things. Only that the idea that only leftists are hateful is about the silliest thing I've ever heard.

I've gone to conservative websites and in the comments section, consistantly seen them advocate killing liberals, atheists, socialists, etc. There have been times when Fox news has had to shut down their comments sections because so many Republicans posting there were advocating killing liberals/atheists.

I definitely don't think Republicans have a monopoly on racism though. Being from Boston, there's still a significant problem with racism, particularly in the Irish and Italian American communities here, who are overwhelmingly Democrat.
