I think you might be confused. The racists were always conservatives, regardless of the shifting sands of political party affiliation. The racist Democrats didn't stop being racist. They became Republicans.
What most concerns me about this House Divided is how quickly and utterly without hesitation The Left always says All The Worst about The Right.
Politics by shameless name-calling, character attacks and impugning motivations; The Politics of Personal Destruction.
Instead of talking directly about issues, every issue must always be additionally and usually tangentially argued unnecessarily by countering the assumed pejorative by which Democrats always label an opposing opinion. In fact, the argument rarely gets past it to get any further. Why argue the merits of the issue when you can argue the meritlessness of the racist Republicans? It is a amoral, immoral Machiavellian political philosophy and attitude. Truth doesn't matter more than defeating them matters.

It's not a party thing. It's an individual thing.
As if all members of one party or group or race are racist and all members of another party or group or race are not?!
Yet a great many Lefties still insist on constantly accusing their neighbors on the Right of being the worst of people they can think of.
The Right thinks that The Left is wrong. The Left
hates The Right. Except for agreeing with anything I would ever say, half of you would otherwise readily admit as much.
I don't see this House Divided recovering from this. I see only disaster ahead. Our differences are irreconcilable I'm afraid and what we had is irretrievable. It's gone. Last Days of the Republic, Mr. Franklin.
These are the days of the dividing.
