Coulter on Canada

Ladewig said:
So if it is all humourously over the top, then when shows like Good Morning, America, This Week, The Today Show introduce her as a conservative columnist rather than a satirist, they are just too slow to get the joke.
Indeed. It's one thing if Coulter, aka the anti-viagra, has a private joke going with a segment of the public. It's another thing for news organizations to buy into it. It's dirt simple: introduce her as a satirist, like you said. Somehow they let her have it both ways.

Which is it? Is she a satirist, or are her comments fair game?

Preemptively, in the event her commentary is intended as serious, and hence fair game, only some of the time, please clue me into as to how her nudge/wink works. TIA.

What, it can't be both?

1) It's a conservative thing. You wouldn't understand.

2) If I have to explain it to you, you wouldn't understand. Kinda like my old college roommate with Asperger's Syndrome. He doesn't get sarcasam, irony, stuff like that - the most literal-minded person I know. If you can't figure out that
As for the pretty girls, I can only guess that it's because liberal boys never try to make a move on you without the UN Security Council's approval. Plus, it's no fun riding around in those dinky little hybrid cars. My pretty-girl allies stick out like a sore thumb amongst the corn-fed, no make-up, natural fiber, no-bra needing, sandal-wearing, hirsute, somewhat fragrant hippie chick pie wagons they call "women" at the Democratic National Convention
isn't to be taken literally, then you're in the same company with my old buddy, except that he can blame the defective wiring between the ears for his troubles. BTW, he probably does think everything Coulter says is gospel.

No. The hope is that pc'lbs too dumb to catch on by themselves will get so angry listening to her they have aneurisms -- assuming of course they possess sufficient mental accuity one could tell the difference before vs. after.

OK. Except everything she says is outrageous.

I take it for what it is -- over-the-top satire. And because I don't take her seriously, about all I have to say about her is that she's the anti-viagra (which she is).

Back to the news organizations -- they should introduce her as a satirist.

It's simple really... she can spew whatever she wants and wins either way. When she advocates something morally repugnant, she's just joking. When she stays just shy of that line, it's simply hard-hitting commentary.

Those on the right--do you once in a while, ever, suppose it's possible that she believes most of what she says, even the stuff that has other conservatives columnists nervously suggesting she's kidding? Is there anything that she does that distinguishes her from someone insanely and dangerously hateful, as some on the "left" fear she is?

If she were allowed to make policy, do you ever worry what she would do?

Coulter kind of reminds me of Mark Morford.

His weekly columns are totally left wing, and incredibly scathing of the right. They can easily be passed off as satire, but the messages within the satire are very real.

My guess is that those who chuckle heartily at Coulter and glibly tell us lefties to lighten up and laugh along won't say the same thing regarding Morford's rants.
Funny how satire is brilliant when you agree with the message, but not so brilliant when you don't.

Help me out. Which messages backed up with any data for analysis within this satirical opinion piece are very real?

Are you sure Morford (like Streisand & many others) doesn't vote republican in private while running strident dis-info campaigns "supporting" the most liberal dems as the best candidates? :D

No. Repub's too dumb to catch on by themselves will not get my assistance.;)

Hmm, maybe. And maybe Coulter votes Democrat. And maybe you do as well.:D

Yeah, but I've never heard of Morford. Coulter (the anti-viagra) is the only tv-prominent "columnist" I can think of who is granted satirical immunity by the news organizations.

The real irony is that when Coulter says something that is just plain stupid, everyone says that it is humor.

Like calling balck people spades, hahahaha.

She also claims that what she says is truth and that she should be considered a serious new journalist, she doesn't think that it is humor. As long as she presents herself as an editorialist i don't care.

She is still shaming the american military when it was under the democrats which is a real shame and just shows her ignorance. Catrter built the Regan army, and the same forces served under Catrter that served under Regan but she still uses her school yard insults and shames the american military inder Carter. But I bet she thinks it's funny that we torture people.

When liberals use anger they are over the top, when Coulter uses hate she is funny. More of the morals by the wife cheating bible thumping right!

Coulter cheats on her wife?

Who knew?

Y'know, I've quoted Coulter any number of times here in the last couple of years, but I think only once has anyone told me she didn't have her facts straight.

Care to try that with, oh, say, Michael Moore?

Type "Coulter's lies" into Google. It'll take you a while to go through the mountain of material.

That's truly funny, in the vague and anecdotal respect that I imagine even the most incorrect, biased columns, written by whoever, tend to have a fact or two interspersed.

To avoid cherry-picking, what say we analyze her next column? Game?

Bags of maniacally hot air, such as Coulter(av), Limbaugh, and Hannity, need something to rail against. It's a down market for this crowd, what with GOP control of all branches of government.

Congratulations on finding a low mango. Now, see if you can figure out the quote function here.

Next try reading the Morford article I linked and see if you find any fact anywhere in his screed.

Lies by Ann? Or discussions and nit-picks by liars who dislike Ann's facts?

Micheal Moore at least pretends to be an entertainer, and Coulter doesn't always get her history or quotes right. Which is rather typical of an editorial/opinion writer.

Or discussions and nit-picks by liars who dislike Ann's facts?

The Post article provided the context for Brazile's quote that Coulter's column did not:

She [Brazile] is in that perilous and burdensome position of being a "first," and she both fights the symbolism and embraces the position. The last reason Gore chose her, she says, was her race and gender. But the reality is that in this world, the only time race and gender don't matter is . . . never.

"A black female in America is the most invisible object in the world," Brazile says. She will not let the "white boys" win. And that's not a description of "gender or race, it's an attitude. A white-boy attitude is 'I must exclude, denigrate and leave behind,'" Brazile says. "They don't see it or think about it. It's a culture." It is the sense of utter entitlement. And that she will not have.

Coulter, however, wrote the following in her December 2 column:

It's extremely valuable for Democrats to be able to campaign in black neighborhoods while talking about the "white boys" running the Republican Party. When she was managing Al Gore's 2000 campaign, Donna Brazile said she was not going to "let the white boys win in this election."

OOOPs

Coulter mischaracterized remarks made by Elizabeth Edwards, wife of Democratic vice-presidential candidate Senator John Edwards, at a Kerry campaign meeting in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. According to Coulter:

White liberals have been indulging their fantasies of violence against conservatives lately -- physically attacking conservatives, ransacking Bush-Cheney headquarters (though not any NRA headquarters, I note). The white wife of vice presidential candidate John Edwards recently warned of riots unless Kerry is elected.

This is what Mrs. Edwards actually said, when questioned by a campaign supporter on C-SPAN:

SUPPORTER: Kerry's going to take PA.

EDWARDS: I know that.

SUPPORTER: I'm just worried there's going to be riots afterwards.

EDWARDS: Uh -- well -- not if we win. We're gonna go have a good time. Thank you very much.

OOOOPs

I like Ann Coulter.

She's smart, cute, informative, and very funny. She also doesn't let weasly liberals push her around.

As usual, the liberal's sense of humor is limited.

Yes, I like mangos. And I have figured out the quote function here. It works like a charm.

Next try reading the Morford article I linked and see if you find any fact anywhere in his screed.

I would, but I think I'll follow your debating tactic instead. I'll just stick to meaningless smart ass remarks, I'll roll my eyes in contempt and pat myself on the back at how smart I am.

Well, then you should love Mark Morford's column that I linked to earlier in this thread. I'm not sure if he's cute, but he's smart, informative and very funny.

I hope you're not going to disregard his rants because they're left wing.

If so, I might have to say "conservative's sense of humor is limited." Or is only liberal bashing humor funny?
