If they got the time wrong it can only have been a genuine mistake, because they recorded it in their notes which appeared in Matteini's report of 8 November.
So therefore
a. The postal police must have looked at their watch at 12:55 and read 12:35
b. There was a policeman wandering around with his hands above his head around 13:32, boots up to his mid thighs and a pink stripe on his trousers
You very well could be right. Yet my memory of this, the eighth go-round of this issue, is that by the time they testified, the prosecution was using this mis-remembering to slander Raffaele as someone who with malice purposely called 112 AFTER the P.P. arrival. IIRC no one on the prosecution side at trial was being so generous that the P.P. simply could have read a "3" when it was a "5", assuming, even, that they had digital watches or read it from the time display in their cruiser.
I remember being batted about the ears by a nasty guilter someyears ago - where when the ad hominem was removed - claimed that this issue was part of "all the other evidence", such evidence promised after the Hellmann acquittal when even hardened gulters (back) then were resigned to the DNA "evidence" generated by Stefanoni was junk.
Who needs the DNA fantasy anyway? There is "all the other evidence", this issue of the timing of the 112-call//P.P. arrival being one of it.
Even back then, it was pointed out that Judge Massei back in 2009, even in convicting the pair, said that the P.P. arrived "just before 1 pm." So much for believing Mignini/Comodi on what was supposed to prop up the prosecution now that the DNA evidence was gone!
I wrote a piece for IIP basically saying two things - the best way to believe the Massei report is not to read it, as well as that even guilters did not believe Massei's conclusions. That was one of the weirder things to consider coming up to speed on the dynamics of this wrongful prosecution.
I was hoping you had a command of the specifics so as to remind me why Massei would rule against the prosecution - in essence disbelieve the P.P. own testimony. Oh well. Massei was stupid enough to simply ignore the P.P. claim that they'd gone in to lift the duvet, to see if, in fact, the victim had expired or maybe needed emergency attention.
Why that is important is that Raffaele had been banging on Meredith's door only minutes earlier, and the Massei Court disbelieved that contamination of the scene could have been an issue - even with the P.P. admitting they tracked in stuff on their shoes, so as to see if the victim was still alive or not.
Going down all these blind alleys is the proof I needed that there actually was no, "all the other evidence." Yet, essentially that's what Chieffi ruled in annulling the aquittals in 2013 - you have to take ALL the evidence "osmotically", no matter any one item's veracity.
Fast forward to Marasca/Bruno. Even when all this stuff is combined "synoptically", it is their view it still doesn't convict.
