OK, a couple points to kick off.
I think the first thing to remember might be not to fall into the trap of replying in kind. I have found myself doing this or being tempted to do this many times.
"Don't feed the troll" is a good addage.
Also we might want to clarify a few things...
How do we publically ID trolls without seeming to be bullying posters? What are the hallmarks of trolling?

Is trolling illegal and on what grounds ? If you do not ike trolling- too bad. Then don't take the bait. If you are hooked and quickly despatched you have only yourself to blame. I recommend that all posters who are afraid of trolls should immediately put them on 'ignore'.
