Conservatives Will "Never Have The Elite, Smart People On Our Side"

I hope the audience to that statement was at least smart enough to feel insulted.

(But they probably applauded.)

Duh. Obviously Santorum isn't on the side of Satan!

Rick Santorum said:
This is not a political war at all, this is not a cultural war. It's a spiritual war. And the father of lies has his sights on what you would think the father of lies, Satan, would have his sights on -- a good, decent powerful, influential country. The United States of America.
...
The place where he was, in my mind, the most successful and first successful was in academia. He understood pride of smart people. He attacked them at their weakest, that they were in fact smarter than everybody else.

If you are ignorant and proud of it clap your hands at the values voter summit.

Well, broken clock and all that. :) I actually have agreed with Rick twice now.

Our first meeting of the minds occurred when he said that Mitt Romney was the "worst possible" Republican nominee. And now, yet another completely accurate statement has burst forth!

:jaw-dropp Finding myself in agreement with Rick Santorum twice in the same year has me preparing for the end of the world.

Rick Santorum is an MBA, and an attorney. So, which side of the "elitist, smart people" line does he consider HIMSELF on? Is he saying his education was a fail, or that he doesn't support himself? I am confused.

But, yes, Rick, you are very correct. The "smart people" will never be on your side.

Quelle surprise.

Please oh please, let the gods of the interwebz turn this into a meme that will out-viral lolcats.

I think part of the 1%er strategy is to encourage ignorance, because ignorant people are easier to herd. They prefer to have them home schooling their kids using only the Bible for a textbook.

People whose critical thinking abilities have atrophied or never developed may not even suspect they're being lied to.

The strategy can backfire, however, because anybody can lie.

Welcome!

Conservatism is the POV of older, established people who have already benefited from the way things are (or were). "Don't rock the boat."

Liberalism is the POV of younger, growing people who have yet to realize their full potential. "Let's change the way we do things."

No wonder one POV is seen as stodgy and selfish while another is seen as forward thinking and innovative.

"We will never have the media on our side, ever, in this country," Santorum, a former Pennsylvania senator, told the audience at the Omni Shoreham hotel.

So Fox News doesn't count as media then?

I get an impression of some in the audience "trying to be nice to the strange young man", but maybe that's just me. Also, I hear "smart people" uttered in scare quotes. So let's not play the semantic games that the repubs play with "you didn't build that".

About the Values Voter Summit someone tweeted that "the median age here is Mesozoic."

So they are all going to die because of runaway global warming?

Interesting and ironic.
