Conservatives still hate Sandra Fluke

Yeah she's so awesome the way she bravely stood up and demanded subsidization of her sex life. A true icon of the left.

1: Birth control pills have other applications than simply preventing pregnancy.

2: Legislating a requirement that insurance providers cover birth control pills does not meet the requirements of a subsidy.

Might as well have it cover food as well, not eating is actually fatal 100% of the time. That's a severe medical issue.

This entire narrative of yours would be more meaningful if the government didn't subsidize the hell out of agriculture and even provide financial assistance to low-income houses who can't afford food.

And you insure against unexpected large expenses, not expected regular small expenses. Those are things you budget for, not insure against. Food, btw, costs far more per month than birth control pills.

Isn't the current mantra vis-a-vis market-based healthcare v. government "take-over" of healthcare the idea that the government shouldn't get between you and the decisions your doctor makes? So then why are you and so many other conservatives opposing legislation that would forbid insurance companies from denying coverage for potentially life-saving medicine?

So what disease do birth control pills cure?

Birth control pills prevents death by...?
Eclampsia, ectopic pregnancy, gestational hypertension, gestational diabetes, Hyperemesis Gravidarum, etc.
Oh, so it only is mandatory for women with those conditions?

How do you expect to have a civil conversation when you keep changing those goalposts?

So fertility is a disease?

It does tend to become a massive economic burden on the unprepared and can inflame known or previously unknown medical conditions leading to a chronic case of deadness in severe cases.

You seem to be operating under the assumption that insurance providers only cover healthcare problems related to disease, someone should tell them they didn't have to cover all that medical work that was needed for my cousin's shattered knee.

Sandra Fluke draws the ire of the right because she has managed to wrap numerous annoying qualities into one person. Here are a few:

- She is a perpetual student studying a bunch of useless crap, e.g. Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. She is seemingly a student for the sake of being a student, wasting time and taxpayer dollars. Her continued interest in useless departments encourages the very existence of these departments, which are in themselves a total waste of resources.

Will you be applying for your million dollars now or later? I only ask because you can only claim any sort of knowledge is useless once you actually have that knowledge. Hence, you're either pulling this out of your rear or you're a precog who has looked far into the future and determined no good will ever come from this.

- She is a professional agitator. Possessing no real skills or experience, Fluke goes through life without actually contributing anything other than the occasional shrill screed. She decided to attend Georgetown University, in part, to agitate against their religious decision not to cover contraceptive services.

Good, that's precisely the sort of thing that needs challenged. Why should insurance providers be allowed to deny potentially life-saving medication based solely on religious reasons?

- She pretends to be a victim, when in fact she lives for attention of any type, especially criticism. Being called a slut by Rush Limbaugh was undoubtedly the absolute pinnacle of her "career". Without it, she would've eventually been stuck trying to find work with her useless degrees.

"Look at the way the little tramp was dressed, obviously she wanted it"

- She possesses an entitled attitude and is a moocher of the highest order.

- She is happy to live her life as a political tool.

Would you care to quote what Sandra Fluke actually said, Virus, or are you content with your strawman version of her?

She said the poor widdle scions of privelige are going broke trying to buy enough birth control at college and that it costs three grand according to some study she supposedly did.

Which is horsecrap and pulled out of her arse.
Which is horsecrap and you pulled out of your arse. Why would an honest person do that?

You people STILL just don't get it, do you?

Do we need to have a national program of sex education for biologically ignorant conservative men?
Apparently, yes. It should also cover how rape can cause pregnancy.

Do we need to subsidize the birth control of women who can afford it just fine on their own?

And no, I don't think boner pills should be subsidized either.
1) Who called for you to subsidize anything? She wanted her health insurance which she pays for to cover her health - just like other insurances.

2) E.D. is a medical condition, so you don't think the health insurance you pay for should be used to treat medical conditions? Interesting...

Not enough liberals like Fluke in Reno:

Sandra Fluke, the woman at the center of a media firestorm earlier this year after Rush Limbaugh called her a “slut,” spoke Saturday in front of about 10 people at the Sak ‘N Save in north Reno.

"About" 10 people? I guess it would have been too hard to count.

That's not the point.
Then what is the point? That scarce government money should be spent on birth control pills for people who can afford them while others go without life-saving cancer, heart, etc drugs?

This was a political decision to buy votes, not one based on medical need and fair allocation of scarce medical resources.

That's hella funny. Upper class professional victimhood gets diminishing returns.

I'd hate to have to break it to you but women not wanting to be a subjugated class of citizen is not a fad. I've been in Reno in October and you are lucky to find more than dozen people anywhere.

So your excuse for her beyond dismal gathering is that there's no one there? Funny thing that all its 400,000 residents have suddenly disappeared.

What is a "dismal" gathering supposed to prove?

Doesn't this just underscore how incredibly stupid it was for the Teabaggers to elevate an otherwise unknown law student to the status of martyr?

She's not running for office, she wasn't famous before this, and she was only chosen as a punching bag because she was defenseless against a media machine like the right has with Fox.

Oh, and I see some people are still clinging to the lie that she was asking "government" to pay for her birth control. Nope, the policy is that insurance companies have to cover contraception as preventive care, like mammograms or checkups. People should stop lying about that.
