Vitter actually broke laws, yet is still in office and received a standing ovation from the GOP when he returned to office. This is evidence that my claim is absolutely true.

Vitter also didn't lie about it for several days and his inappropriate conduct came out several years after the fact, long enough that the statute of limitations had expired. It is sleazy that he did it after replacing Livingstone and that he commented negatively on Clinton's affairs however.

Did Anthony Weiner run on a platform of harsher parking laws?

Well the harshness of the laws is immaterial if he intends to ignore them

The question is did he campaign against people in priviliged postitions using the privilige to ignore parking tickets?

Did he say things like "..... park illegally, ignore paying their parking tickets and expect New Yorkers to pick up the tab. This needs to end.” and then do exactly that (except expecting Columbians to pick up the tab)?

Yes and yes.

But not sleazy enough to call for resignation?!

Why should the statue of limitations matter?

Yes and yes.

I doubt it.

Here at patterico.com we have been covering the Weiner scandal from Day 1. In covering that story, we soon realized that one of the most disturbing aspects of the story was the possibility that Congressman Weiner had engaged in communications with underaged girls. For whatever reason, this is the part of the story that the media has ignored.

Patterico puts together three pretty simple parts:

1. Underaged girl links to Weiner video on the 9-11 first responders bill and calls him her true love.

2. Underaged girl quotes "her favorite congressman" (apparently from a direct message): "I came back strong. Large. In charge. Tights and cape (expletive)."

3. Weiner talked dirty to the Las Vegas blackjack dealer and used similar superhero imagery:

[WEINER:] Yep. Cape. Tights. Looking for my sidekick.

Some tweets from the underaged girl:
She is someone who argued with another underaged girl about having a crush on Weiner — shortly after posting messages such as “SERIOUSLY LOVING LIFE AGAIN BUT I GOTTA KEEP MY MOUTH SHUT OR ELSE…” followed by “I’m in love with married men, #thatswhyimsingle.”

More at the link. Weiner's gonna get roasted.

It would have had quite a bearing on all that "content of character" stuff...
How so? How would it make what he said about being judged not by the color of one's skin, but on the content of their character, any less true, just because his character was known to be more flawed once his affairs were known?

Jude just says that because he knows that everyone has character flaws. It's sheer sophistry. Only an allegedly Perfect Being (i.e. God) would stand his scrutiny.

I apologize for piling on. That wasn't my intent.

You might be correct.

I thought it might have been an interesting exercise to just review what we knew, and when we knew it, vs what we thought we knew.

I understand that some of the facts relating to yfrog and how twitter works were technical in nature, and I concede that if you don't fully understand the technology, you did not necessarily have any reason to believe my random internet forum posts more than random internet bloggers like cannon.

Again, I think part of the exercise was to establish that at some point in time before weiner confessed, the conclusion that he had sent the tweet himself had nothing to do with either Breitbart or being lucky. I'm finished bringing it up ... we'll just have to wait for the next scandal to do it all over again. :)

I disagree with the highlighted sentence, but I appreciate your apology and your honesty. :)

Wait, so he used a non-sexual phrase with two different people, and he was having cyber sex with one of those people, so he must have been having cyber sex with the other person?

He also said 'hi'.

EDIT: And before anyone starts jumping on me as an apologist or something, sure, he could have had cyber sex with an underage girl. That's not what I'm saying. What I'm saying is that the fact he used superhero imagery with more than one person isn't evidence of that. It's, it's, just ********.

Swing and a miss! No, the issue is that he was having direct message conversations about anything with an underage girl. The point about the superhero tights and cape simply establishes he was doing that (and note that she quotes him using a profanity).

Still waiting for your list of perversions that justify public disclosure and removal from office.
Rape, domestic assault, consorting with prostitutes for deviant sex, physical contact of a sexual nature with a minor or a disabled person. Get it on with a passed-out drunk woman and you're out of here. Get grabby with a woman who is not interested, hit the road. Badger a staff member until she gives in, go to jail.

This is not rocket science.
