Wow. He just apologized to Breitbart. What are the odds Lefty will do the same?

Senator David Vitter (R-LA) patronized prostitutes and likes to wear diapers, and he just got reelected last year. I don't see why Wiener will have to resign.

It depends on the position the wife takes. If he can hide behind Huma he might survive.

Ah yes, fanning the flames of a non-story just to humiliate a political opponent clearly makes up for the multiple character assassinations based up willfully fabricated lies.

Weiner should apologize for calling him a liar on this case and this case alone, that's it. This is a stupid, stupid story.

He was flirting with chicks online. Oh man, call the lynch mob.

Attack? No, just an observation. And certainly not the royal "we," nor a tapeworm. I'm just reasonably certain several would agree. Do you deny it was nonsense (even as hyperbole goes) and of the sort similar to what you've posted numerous times before?

If yes, care to take boooeee up?

What are you blabbering about? A Republican Congressman's recent resignation over a similar 'oops' is public knowledge.

And you and "several" are welcome to continue believing Democrats are beyond blame for any behavior: public, pubic, or private, presumably since they won't be acting "hypocritically".

ROFL (think Laughing Dog smiley, actually).

Pre-warning: this isn't directed at anyone in particular

If you think that this isn't going to end up validating Breitbart's existence and make any stories (or non-stories) he promotes in the future 1000x more obnoxious and omnipresent, then I don't think you get how political media works.

Well this teaches me a lesson. I had assumed that someone got ahold of his @yfrog address. It appears to be not the case.

What a lying douchebag.

He seemed to be honest in the presser right up to the point where he claimed he never had sex outside his marriage. Skeptic alert!

This is a Drudge moment for Breitbart. Drudge was a randomly accurate smear-monger who repeated every BS story about Clinton--then Lewinsky happened, he got one right, and drove political stories for the next 5 years.

Get ready for an endless stream of ******** and appearances on CNN. This is a stupid story, but it will open the door for some future nonsense.

That's not the story here. That's not what kept this in the media. His attempted coverup is the story here. Happens time and time again. When you screw up and are caught, come clean. End of story. Evade, lie, try to coverup - you're in for a big fall. Weiner should go down in the PR and political playbooks as a classic study on how not to handle a mistake.

Given that there aren't even any accusations to the contrary, I think we should assume he's telling the truth about that.

Yes, you are right about that.

That this was made into a story at all, however, is the fault of Breitbart and the vapid media we have to suffer with. Just because you've found dirt doesn't mean you've found a story.

The coverup was stupid, but that doesn't make the source material any more legitimate.

I was 50/50 on whether he did it vs. Whether he was framed...until the fact that the tweet came from TweetDeck was revealed.

After that, it was pretty clear to me that the most likely story was that he actually did it.

I said I wouldn't be surprised either way, and I'm not. Oh, well...

What a lying douchebag.

I still say it was a fun exercise and at the very least it caused people to take a second look at how sites like Twitter and yFrog handle security. Plus it enabled us to play internet sleuth.

And Weiner should not resign, but he should not have done this to his wife, should not have lied about it, and I'll never respect him the same way.

(And Breitbart is still a liar and everything he says should be considered suspect until a second source is found)

By the way, thumbs WAAAAY up for the reporter that asked if this meant Congresspeople shouldn't connect with their constituents via social media.

Sometimes the dumb is just too intense.

If you think this is a non-story you are suffering from a recto-cranial inversion (RCI).

Weiner did apologize.

He was flirting with chicks online. Oh man, call the lynch mob.
If you think his "flirting" is the story your RCI is flaring up again.

ETA: Dem congressman admits to lying to his wife, his constituents and the media, and apologized for falsely accusing others of lying. TW says it's a non-story, no big deal, nothing to see here, move along...yeah, right.

Let me also say to Ziggurat that I was very much incorrect in dealing with the following dilemma:

1) He sent the tweet to someone he had prior contact with.
2) He sent it out at random, to people he didn't know.

I dismissed 2 because of the galactic stupidity involved in such an action. This was clearly an unwarranted assumption. Evidentally he did that with some frequency.

They really need to have some sort of "blood on the highway"-ish video for incoming members of Congress illustrating the colossally bad outcomes of having an affair of any sort while in office.
