One could argue that the hundreds of thousands killed by Saddam were worthy of the consideration of sanctity of life. One could argue the false imprisonments, the torture, the maiming, etc. by Saddam were worthy of the consideration of sanctity of life.Ladyhawk said:I think it's very relevant, Rand. It goes to showing that all of this fuss over Schiavo is more politically motivated than anything else. If it were truly about the sanctity of life, (as Tom DeLay and Dubya would have us believe), then why not the same sense of urgency for the lives at risk in Iraq? That's all.
I don't accept your premise. The deaths of American servicemen and women are tragic and the necessity of them being in harms way is certainly worthy of discussion and debate. But to simply interject it here is besides the point. Why not argue the merits of this issue instead of poisoning the well?
That we are in Iraq is not proof that Bush or his administration does not value human life.
Edited to add: I also don't accept that there is no exit strategy. There absolutely is an exit strategy and the Iraqi elections were part of that strategy.
