CNN Doxxes a gif maker

Or is the story that Trump tweets crap from racists and doesn't realize it and we need to show him who he is retweeting? Public lesson and all that.

This is not the first time Trump has used racists symbols in his tweets.

Like Hans AssholeSolo, hate speech is all fun and games until you get the spotlight.

Trump shrugs, and acts like it never happened, and Hans apologizes profusely for being
a first class douche bag.

I think the story is the POTUS using simple, but clear memes/gifs to get his message
out in the public, (at least to his base).
The message? "fake news" will be taken down by Trump.

Trump using hate speech against the "enemy of the people".

There is no hate speech in that video Trump posted, there are no racist symbols. Absolutely ridiculous accusations.

There is you fake news folks, gaze upon the unrepentant lies.

The connection seems to be that he is the earliest source of art depicting a trump wrestling image with CNN over a wrestling figures head. That would be circumstantial evidence that he was the original source of the idea. Second, the changes made were a tehnology modification and not something that altered the original meaning.

How is that not a connection?
That's a connection with HAS, not with his other product.

The Big Dog's sophistry is accidental, but it's sophistry none the less. The connection through HAS to his other product is what makes Trump's association with him reckless, and a reckless US President is newsworthy in any language. Not to say worth watching very closely.

there is zero evidence at all that TRump had the first clue about HAS's other "product" and there is not the first thing alarming about the original gif nor the subsequent video, blatant lies about racism and hate speech notwithstanding.

Indeed - this may not even be the fifth, and yet very few media figues paused to reflect on what that may mean until after the election (Charles Blow is the only person I can think of who did so on prime-time, as a guest)

End result - a White House crawling with inept white nationalists like Steve Bannon and Steve Miller, as well as apologists like Reince Preibus.

And that's why this guy's racial slurs and anti-semitic pictures are more important than many here are giving credit for - this is an organized section of white supremacists and Nazi-wannabes that has hounded women and minorities online for years, far before Trump ever showed up blathering about how criminal and rapey "the Mexicans" are. Same folks who hounded women who dared to play or develop video games, same folks who attacked black people who wanted to not be killed by wild-eyed police (or George Zimmerman) for no reason. They're an ongoing problem, and if this guy was foolish enough to think it was just "lulz", well, he has shown profoundly poor judgement.

And so, as I said before, if his life were to be shattered, I'd consider it to be something he brought on himself. I think, if anything, CNN was only merciful because it was pursuing a story about Toupee Fiasco, and not the online hate mob that he has helped to energize.

He doesn't have to know who created the idea for it to be newsworthy.

If the name is newsworthy, is it newsworthy no matter if he is racist or not?

Of course, yes. The guy is creating widely-viewed political propaganda for use by the President of the United States. That is newsworthy enough, per se, without a doubt.

Maybe you could get Chairman Gowdy on that. Because that's actually the question:

What did the President know and when did he know it. Where did he get that forwarded from? Which of his little monster offspring or associates is following bigots and passing them along to the POTUS "Hey, here's one I found on a website, dad Mr. President".

It's not fake news just because your party handlers at the RNC or Kremlin tell you it is. It's part of a larger story: President of the USA Spends Time On Childish Name-Calling, Gets Material from Well-Known Source of Bigotry and Anti-Semitism.

It's part of the story. It's the part you'd rather not hear. Change the channel. Some people would like to hear what inspires that feeb in the Oval Office.

The same people denying that this is news were quite likely forwarding "breaking news" to their friends in the mid 00s on Bill Ayers having ghost-written Obama's autobiography.

In the case in hand, the actual case, CNN hasn't published a name. You've conceded that yourself. You appear to be thrashing around to no good purpose.

Take refuge on the hypothetical plane if you must, but I'm not following you there.

This was addressing if CNN had an ethical right to publish his name as he was now in the 'news'. Some think 'yes', they can and there is nothing wrong with that.

I just want to know why. There are obvious other cases where they would not publish (my hypothetical). They wouldn't even 'reserve the right' in that case. So just the fact that he created the meme and the president tweeted it is not enough. There needs to be something more.

I guess I'm looking for the general principle folks would use to decide.

Well, we're going to just have to agree to disagree because at least two of us are not arguing whether they have a "right" to publish, but rather that it is their "duty".

Who is writing the memes of the POTUS is NEWS whether you like it or not. If it was sourced from Sinnead O'Connor, don't you think the right would be all over it? And it might not be interesting NEWS to me but it would be NEWS, nevertheless.

Anyone creating content for use by any administration or campaign is a limited purpose public figure, when the story includes the question of what that content should be taken to mean.

Does the body-slamming CNN video implicitly condone the sort of violence we saw from the Congressman at large for the State of Montana? Only one person to ask.

It needs to be remembered that Trump has previously expressly stated that certain media houses are the enemy of the people.

Donald J. Trump - ✔ @realDonaldTrump
The FAKE NEWS media (failing @nytimes, @NBCNews, @ABC, @CBS, @CNN) is not my enemy, it is the enemy of the American People!

Wishing to interpret his CNN post as being 'an innocuous joke' does not align with prior statements.

Ethically? No. Absolutely not.

His personal details are irrelevant to a story of the president tweeting the GIF.

This guy had the misfortune to have a silly post plucked from a subreddit and put into the national spotlight. CNN tracks him and finds he is just an everyday troll with some racially offensive material. To even hint that his name is newsworthy to publish GLOBALLY is ludicrous.

It would instantly ruin his life. He would need to move and hide, he and his family would get a barrage of harassment and death threats, he would undoubtedly lose his job. He could be physically hurt. We know this is what happens. CNN knows this is what happens.

His name adds nothing to the story. It isn't news. It's putting a man in the stocks for public ridicule....forever. Evidently, some people think this is ok.

There is however, irrefutable evidence that he's too stupid to find out where this crap originates before he retweets it.

Why does he even see this? He follows these idiots

Meet Nancy K Stouffer. who created Larry Potter and the Muggles

How is that not a connection?, she asked when suing for JK Rowling's billions

In September 2002, the U.S. District Court for southern New York found not only that Rowling did not pilfer the Muggles, but also that Stouffer had lied to the court and doctored evidence to support her claims. Judge Allen G. Schwartz fined Stouffer $50,000 for this "pattern of intentional bad faith conduct.
