I don't think there necessarily will always be elites that want to, and are able to, rape and kill at will. That is far too hopeless a reading of life.

Further, the fact that there are other ills that plague us, does not detract from the ills of religion. Remove religion, and you might still be left with other kinds of oppression; but the answer to that is, obviously, to try to remove those as well, and to try to root such out both piecemeal and systemically. None of this remotely suggests a defense of religion, Christian or otherwise.

For the rest, I agree completely with the criticisms about ...expression, and screaming at clouds, and misinterpreting what people are saying, and all of that. Just, let's not fall into the ...error, of having this nonsense thrown at us, making us present arguments in defense of religion that we would normally undoubtedly blow right out of the water ourselves.
