You would WISH to nominate him as a Democrat, and I am sure there are a lot of Democrats who would agree with you. The question is if he would want to run as a Democrat...

It's interestng how starved we are as a nation for true leadership -- a person who will say what they mean, whether you agree wih them or not, and not sound like a pandering waffler trying to not piss people off, that the same guy is attractive to both parties (and Ann Coulter).

Most politicians are excellent in their one shared, world-class skill, literally the ability to lie convincingly, used in the applied science of letting you project your wishes onto them and them not contradicting it.

I think people pick up on that subconsciously, so anyone who comes along and says, x because of X, and y because of Y, and does so with confidence, is beyond completely refreshing. It's the factory owner selling you something directly rather than having to deal with salesmen who are always out to scam you for as much money as you can be tricked into paying.

About the only thing Christie has going for him is that he is not a ranting sociopath. He actually seems kind of charming. Delightful sense of humor.

Great appeal to moderates, but the GOP is working up a good frenzy that will probably not abate until they realize, some time around 2017, that it aint working anymore.
