Cool!Glasgow Celtic played their first game that year too.
Cool!
Founded even earlier I see, November 18878.
We might as well talk about football in a Jack Chick thread.
I think Celtic was probably founded by time travellers from the past, come to meddle with religious thinking in Glasgow. Rangers even more so!Aha! Your distracting talk about the past has failed to disguise your true nature: you are time-travelers from the future!
It's a conspiracy of future-dwellers meddling with our contemporary religious thinkings, and stuff!
And now that I have unmasked you… er… well, uh…![]()
Here's a really weird site, that is clearly arguing the opposite.I don't remember anybody in the catholic church I was raised in say that god had to obey Mary, or Satan had to obey Mary either.
http://www.tldm.org/news4/warningsfrombeyond.2of3.htmThe following work confirms many of the Bayside revelations. The book essentially exposes the remarks and gestures made by a possessed woman in Switzerland during 1975‑1978. Speaking through the possessed woman, the demons were forced to tell the truth by Our Lady under the Solemn Church Exorcism, which was witnessed by the following priests who have all expressed their conviction of the authenticity of the revelations made by the demons upon the order of the Blessed Virgin.

I do remember comments about how Mary has "held back the wrath of God" on many occasions. So he doesn't have to obey her, but he does listen to her, and she can talk him down when he goes on a rampage, basically.
That's interesting - I've always thought of the Old Testament God as the abusive alcoholic father, and Jesus as his shy, under-achieving son. Now you've described Mary as the co-dependent wife who can settle him down from his drunken rampages.
What a dysfunctional family!
Hey, theologists are just going to talk about what they know
Like the fact that the flood was the result of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost going on a monstrous beer bash?
Actually I find the whole cartoon pretty offensive
That is a quite astounding cartoon. According to Chick the letters IHS on the host stand for "Isis, Horus and Seb, the Gods of Egypt". The RCC hasn't taken this stuff lying down of course. For its response see http://www.catholic.com/documents/the-nightmare-world-of-jack-t-chickJack Chick has always had a beef with Catholicism, viewing it as a false version of Christianity full of made-up doctrines intended to control the members.
For example, the anti-Communion tract "The Death Cookie".
This was very much Leo XIII's view, and not only as regards Americanism. See his On the Nullity of Anglican Orders 1896. http://www.papalencyclicals.net/Leo13/l13curae.htm.Doesn't this dispute date back to Pope Leo XIII's Testem Benevolentiae Nostrae on the heresy of Americanism in 1899?
Even today, you can find references to this. For example:
How to Address Priests and Religious: Titles and Signs of Respect
For the same reason, it is inconvenient for a Catholic to call a Protestant preacher “reverend,” because this is to indirectly confer legitimacy to his heretical confession.
The Eucharist is worshiped, but since it is Jesus himself it does not amount to worshiping "another" Jesus. Many other Christians, including Lutherans, believe in the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist (although they do not in fact have the Real Presence in their churches) and recognize that Jesus is to be worshiped wherever he is.
