chemtrails

Oh, definitely.
All I meant to convey was that it's not entirely without precedent in concept of applied action, even if the probabilities and logistics are rather stacked heavily against the conspiracy's propositions.

It was mostly in answer to the quandary regarding how people could even think such concepts about their government as any sensible action the government could take.

I only intended to show that a conspiracy theory prone individual would not be without precedent of the relative actions from which they would be claiming regarding the commercial sector (not that Americans really trust the commercial sector much better than they trust their government these days anyway).

There's nothing mysterious about either type of engine. I was, however, unaware that water was a byproduct. Now that I think on it, though, it does explain why I sometimes see water drip out of exhaust pipes on automobiles.

Pretty much any hydrocarbon when burned has water as one of the products of the exhaust with carbon monoxide and/or carbon dioxide making the majority of the rest as well as possibly some sulfur compounds depending on composition if I recall my chemistry classes correctly.

about contrail formation states that when aviation fuel is burned about 1.25 pounds of water vapor is produced for each pound of fuel burned. It also states that contrails can be persistent showing the lie that "chemtrailers" use to distinguish between contrails and "chemtrails".

I've been wondering lately about these chemtrails. Has anyone attempted to actually sample one? Like, by flying up to one and, uh, scooping some out of the air?

On the one hand I'd like to see these CTs opening the doors on their plane at 30,000ft and on the other hand I'd like to see them do some actual science.

There was some alleged plan to do some direct sampling by some Chemtrail group, some funds were collected, the organization weny belly up, funds were not refunded...

So there have been no direct sampling attempts by the CTs...they depend entirely on "looks odd/funny/wierd/scary". And they take samples on the ground, misunderstand the findings, and blame it on aircraft (vs cars, trucks, industry etc)

The difficulty with CTs doing real science is this:
Richard Feynman said:
The first principle is that you must not fool yourself, and you are the easiest person to fool.

If they had that ability to not fool themselves on the subject of their cherished CT, they wouldn't be CTs in the first place.

Exactly what I say all the time. Instead of relying on "being informed" by watching youtube videos, how come nobody has launched a balloon to COLLECT SAMPLES....

Thats it people - in a nutshell.

Actually, there have been a number of studies on contrail formation etc that have been conducted in situ.

But these were by real scientists so they don't count.

I never took a chemistry class so I guess that explains why I didn't know that water was a byproduct of hydrocarbon combustion. Thank you for the information and the link. It's much appreciated.

Yes, there's a video on YT somewhere showing a plane flying in and out of contrail levels (in level flight), though I don't think they were taking samples. It was a contrail study series.
Meanwhile the contrailers always fixate on the big 4 engine heavies pumping out all sorts of contrails, while the vast majority of air traffic is in the RJ/737/A3xx size aircraft....not nearly as impressive I suppose.

There are a lot of them over DC so I guess "the powers that be" are into poisoning themselves..

Ah, conspiracy theorists have beaten you to it - when I made that point to my friend who is an ardent believer in such theories, he immediately said that "the powers that be" have an antidote which they issue to those in the know so as to protect them, whilst the sheeple end up being poisoned...

Therein lies the problem of course. many of these contrails are also from highflying passenger jets and sending a balloon up 30000 ft in the hopes it will intercept a contrail is a bit overly optimistic and most people do not have the means by which to fly up to them to get samples' not to mention that the faa or eqiv in other countries would not be too happy about unauthorised aircraft entering flight corridors.
