Gunman kills nine people in South Carolina church shooting

Nine people were killed when a white gunman entered a historic African-American church in Charleston, South Carolina, and opened fire, the city's police chief said on Thursday.

One other person was wounded and taken to a hospital, Chief Gregory Mullen told reporters about four hours after the shooting on Wednesday evening.

Describing the shooting as a hate crime, Mullen said: “It is unfathomable that somebody in today’s society would walk into a church when people are having a prayer meeting and take their lives."

I was wondering why there was no thread about this. I was about to post it when i saw yours after a refresh.

It could be racially motivated, or it could be a scorned lover deciding to kill everybody from the church of his lover which rejected him. Or it could be an insane guy in clown or batman costume wanting fame. Without having caught the guy or having a confession it is pretty much a crapshot at the motivation.
 
CNN and MSNBC are on it but Fox News is just interviewing The Trump.

Off topic, but I watched trump's announcement, and I have to admit that I never laughed so hard in the last few years. I am taking a perverse pleasure at watching repubs announcement and how they are appealing to their voters.

Well it did say "white man" right in the headline of several different news agencies, so of course he's a racist bastard. I guess it's okay to mention race in a news story or headline when it's a white guy.

You can take comfort in the fact that since he's white, at least he's not a terrorist.
 
What?

The OKC bombing was fairly widely acknowledged as an act of terror. Same with the various sectarian attacks in the UK.

Memes detract from the issue at hand.
 
Somehow this is all part of Obama's plans to foment a race war so that he can declare martial law, have the feds take over local policing, seize our guns and postpone the 2016 election indefinitely.
 
Another case of white rage. They're basically uncontrollable barbarian animals who need to be shipped back to Europe. The liberal media refuses to print an honest headline: "Thin Lipped, Hairy Beast Guns Down Nine Parishioners."

Some eyewitness's best guess I suppose. Everything should be considered tentative for 48 hours. Early reports almost always contain perceptions or guesses that turn out to be wrong.
