Never in my life did I think I would see a coup attempt in the U.S. Sickening.
 
Any indication of the crowd size? I only have ABC news available on the device I'm watching. They haven't given a wide angle view of the entire crowd. However, it looks like they can all fit on the steps and the paved area in front of the steps, so probably no more than 5,000 or so.

Hmm.. I see police movement on my screen now.
 
The Senate has just been recessed, as Trump goons have breached the Capitol Building.

Not a whiff of tear gas inside or outside, of course. Tear gas is for black people.

There were only a few dozen at the Capitol, for some reason.

The attacking crowd is not gigantic by any stretch, but it is too large for the police there to handle. It is the attendees of Trump's "rally" at the Eclipse earlier this morning. At the end of it, he repeatedly shouted for them to "march to the Capitol", and they did. The police presence seems to have been taken wholly by surprise by this eventuality, possibly anticipating general riots in the actual city area instead.
 
The Capitol Police are probably not equipped to handle this. They also don't want to start shooting. They've withdrwan to an inner perimeter. Looks like some smoke outside, maybe tear gas is being used outside the building.
 
Latest has curfew announced in D.C. and reports the National Guard has been called in.
