Cave Found Beneath the Euphrates River!

And :dl: again.

Rusty, Rusty, Rusty, You do realize that we have a subforum for humor, right? Your entire collection of 597 posts rightfully belong there. Seldom have we had a poster here take such delight in their pig ignorance.

I think the holiday homework assignment is graded on volume of posts, not the number of athiests that have a 'Come to Jesus' moment. Well we've got to hope, otherwise we can expect a reprise when he repeats the year.

The report did not say that it was flooded. It was sealed.
They found it when the waters receded.
Did you address this problem?

What would be the purpose of a " do not unseal " message inside a sealed cave?

The message should have been " Now that your here...." ..

I think they have to do that to cover themselves legally.
Because it's all made up.
If it's real and factual reporting, shy would they need to "cover themselves legally"

Here's how a real archeology show does it.

No disclaimer to "cover themselves legally"

For those who were fans of the Channel 4 show, it's still going and doing digs with much the same people. They can do separate episodes for each day as well as the familiar one hour show.
This is from last year.

That's a common disclaimer.
Probably found on all their videos.
They aren't saying "May contain nuts" here. It's not a disclismer that they may have got some detail less than entirely correct. They're saying it's fiction. Because of course it's fiction.

You might need to recalibrate your reality sensors.

It's like having a "Do Not Press This Button" sign that only lights up after you press the button. Or a "Do Not Lean Over Railing" sign half way down the cliff face.

A fulfillment of prophecy.
See, here's the problem with prophecy. It's easy to say "that event fulfilled this prior prophecy" after the event has occurred. We see it all the time with Nostradamus. This quatrain, written in the C16th, predicted this C20th event. But there was no way to tell prior to the event that this was what the prophecy is predicting. And a prophecy, after all, by definition, is suppose to predict future events, not post-dict them.

In the case under discussion, any prolonged drought that reduced the water level in the river could have been said to be "predicted" in the Bible. In this case, as has been clearly established, we know exactly why the Euphrates is drying up, and it's not divine intervention.

I still follow them.
While of course it's still television, at least they show how much work is needed to find even small pieces of the past, how often their guesses are wrong and all the times it's unclear WHY things are found the way they are.

Plus, I enjoy seeing how much geophysiscs has improved over the decades.
