Yes,that seems to be how the first fire started.
However,there is very real grounds that at least one of the later fires was started by Arson.
You have a number of different fires,and they probably got started by different events.

If terrorist didn't have anything to do with starting fires this year, no doubt the Media has made it obvious that it is a cheap and effective way to terrorize a country.

I dislike the media as much as the next guy, but I don't think it's fair to put this on them.

Humans in general and jihadists in particular are fully capable of coming up with cheap and effective ways to inflict large amounts of property damage without needing to have their hands held in the process.

In regards to CT, maybe the terrorist side track is to throw attention away from the real fact that it may have started because of the power company. They don't want anyone focusing on them, so they put up a smoke screen to cover their ass.

And Wildfires as a way of causing destruction and panic is nothing new.
Remember Japan's attempts to start wildfires on the West Coast by sending over Balloons with incendiary bombs from Japan in World War 2? The idea was sound,it was just the technology did not work very well. A few small blazes got started,but nothing major.
If Japan in 1943 was aware of the possibilities of wildfire as a means of disruption,I am sure Al Qaida did not need CNN to tell them.

I Failed... I was trying to make a connection to the Pearl Harbor "Roosevelt knew" CTs and should have been a LOT more descriptive.

Actually bombing cities from the air was carried out in WW1 by basically shoveling them out the door of a Zepplin IIRC.

Attacking civilians ie.non-military personel, is described quite often in the bible, so its hardly a new thing. One practise was to "destroy utterly" a city. This entailed killing every man, woman,child and animal in the city and burning and tearing apart all structures while taking no spoil. It was a signal to other enemies that this fate could also be expected to happen to them should they oppose you. It said "we are rich enough and powerful enough to destroy our enemies and not take any spoil(loot, slaves). Don't mess with us".

Trust the lefty media to do what they can to blame Bush for the fires. They've already tried in the past 3 days to say that the number of NG assets in Iraq hurt firefighting efforts. This coming from idiots at CNN and of course MSNBC. Arnold wasn't having any of that.
