Bush Talks About Sham Elections... Irony Meter Please!

sorry, not so much. it was clear to me. if it was not clear to some voters, oh well, no ballot will suffice.
But the point, and the reason why I got so sick of the old "If they're too stupid to figure it out, they shouldn't vote anyway" garbage is that only the "stupid" voters among the Democrats were given the opportunity to show their "stupidity."

Had a ballot equally as confusing to determine how to vote for Bush been present, you can bet that there would be scores of Republican/Bush voters who were "too stupid" to figure it out too. (And they too would have been ANGRY after learning they voted for Nader, Buchanan, etc.) THAT's where the injustice lied, and it still escapes people somehow.

This is not to say that we should have done a recount of the "Jews for Buchanan"...it's simply a counter to the tired "too stupid to vote" bit.

The precinct I voted in for half of my adult life had similar ballots, and I can't remember any "confusion" controversy ever coming up.

Something else that people tend to forget is that Gore's lawyers in Florida also tried to block counting, and managed to throw out a considerable number, of absentee votes from overseas military personnel, using various specious reasons such as missing middle initials or inadequate postmarks.

This is particularly important to keep in mind, because military servicepeople typically vote Republican.

There were a number of unofficial statewide recounts performed by different organizations after the final decision was made, all of which resulted in a Bush victory.

Sure you can figure it out, but you already know that people were confused by it.
I can figure it out, but maybe that's because here in 100% Democrat-controlled Chicago and Cook County we had butterfly ballots for most of my life. Until, suddenly, after the 2000 election the Dems discovered that their base was too stupid to figure them out. Must be a Republican conspiracy!

Don't forger, Gore's campaign was run by Bill Daley, Chicago Mayor Richard Daley's brother. The last thing in the world these guys wanted was an actual fair election, in fact they've spent most of their adult lives rigging the system. Did you know that in Chicago you need 50,000 signatures to get on the ballot for Mayor?

These aren't guys concerned about fairness to anyone except themselves.
