Bumper sticker. . .(shudder)

Tacos. . . bleah! Sorry to have to disagree with you, RT, but I have yet to meet a taco I'd waste a bite on.

Guess we'll be fighting on opposite sides when the Tacopalypse comes. Any idea what food is the taco's mortal enemy? I'd like to get an early start and get in good with my new boss.

The tofu taco (ie, the Anti-Taco).

C'mon up to PA Dutch country and I'll introduce you to the greatest of all pies - the Shoofly Pie! So sweet one slice will have your pancreas crying for mercy.

if my pancreas has to cry for mercy then I shalll pass! And if it's not the Banana Cream Pie that shall save us then it must be...

The Peanutbutter and Tunafish Sandwich that will save us from the EVIL TACO OF DEATH!!!

Am I allowed to come in with an ID Bumper sticker this late? I read the first page, got inspired and then saw how long the thread was. So here goes anyway....

Intelligent Design...Helping America* become a Developing Nation.

* Insert country of choice.

As opposed to a non-developing nation?

Hey...developing...that's kinda like evolving, right?

1. Assuming there is a god.
2. Assuming that god is the god of the bible.
3. Assuming that we believe in 'sin'.

If Love dying conquered sin, why does it still exist? If it still exists, why aren't more deaths needed?

And why the heck did an omnipotent being create a creature which would always be at war with it?

Sorry, catching up with some threads now...

Sin no longer *must* separate us from God, that is the defeat of sin through the triumph of the Cross. I guess that's the extent of what we mean when we say Jesus' death conquers sin.

So sin does still exist, and the wages of sin will always be death. So in a sense, more deaths are still needed, as you say.

I don't know why God would create creatures with free will, but I'm glad he did.

The US is presently considered a developed nation, developing would be a step down in terms of living.

Jesus died but he rose again and he is very much in control of this world. I just don't know why he hasn't come back yet? Why is it so hard for you to just want to believe in God's only Son?

Wait. I thought that according to the Bible, Satan was the master of this world?

And belief is difficult, for me anyhow, because of the vast lack of evidence for or credibility in the story.

Elliot, thanks as always for responding so calmly.

I'm afraid that we'll have to agree to disagree. So much of this makes my head spin... God had to kill his son who is himself to allow himself to forgive his creatures for making bad choices which he made seem really good?

OW.

Well we don't think God killed his son, it was people who did it.

Death is the result of sin. Death is also that which takes away sin. I guess that's the equation. Using death to destroy death. Neat trick!

Yes, sin is attractive, but that has to do with our corrupted natures.

Why do you suppose we have corrupt natures? The problem I've always had with this is that I see only two possible sources from a biblical perspective
(1) Original sin - which, for me, begs the question, why make humans fallible to temptation, or, if humans were not intentionally made that way it implies non-omnipotence
(2) Humans were actually created corrupt and the OS is just a myth. Which, again, begs the question, why?

So, a carpenter lives out all his days ...

Would that mean you could not be saved?

So, a carpenter lives out all his days ...

Would that mean you could not be saved?

You mean if Jesus wasn't crucified...

Yes. I think that if Jesus lived a long life, and died a natural death as they say, that would have won our salvation as well. Is that what you meant?

I think there was as much certainty, however, that Jesus would meet a fate like he did as there would be for an active Jewish preacher living in Nazi Germany. Meaning, God picked a really good time to have his Son get it like he got it. What a Father. His pain, our gain. I think they already make that bumper sticker.
