So you think he couldn't have honestly thought that it was the correct course of action and so backed GWB in accordance with that belief?
I don't necessarily disagree with you, but I'd suggest that the direction of your rage be directed towards those who actually carried out the wicked deeds. After all, they weren't just empty automatons.
And despite Blair being Bush's doormat, and despite what he may have thought in private, there is no evidence of him ever justifying torture, and plenty of evidence of him and Brown saying the opposite.
I find it surprising that it's apparently surprising to some. Did they really think that people of one nationality are that much different from another, that they wouldn't be capable of the same acts?
While it may be somewhat comforting for some Brits to pretend that their government's actions were the result of the encouragement and example of the US, let's not forget that they also have a fairly recent history of torturing their own citizens.

I don't care for what seem to me to be invidious comparisons. It does not matter who is doing it nor how much they are doing it: if they are doing it at all they should be prosecuted and I think it would be helpful if we condemned it wherever and whenever it comes to light.
