Brexit: the referendum

?? the S&P broke through to a few pts away from all time highs just before the surprise result last night? it's now halted trading limit down on Futures, I dont think it's very baked in.

Make a prediction. Where does the market close tomorrow?

I say a serious drop, but less than a thousand. (Between 500-999 points)

ETA: Gonna revise that to a drop between 1,000 and 1,500 (if Kevsta wants to play along at market predictions)

Don if what you said about your business was genuine then commiserations today. You'll be facing real problems and have some serious decisions to make and that can't be easy.

If there's anything that I can help with just let me know.

Cheers. It is very worrying.

I start conversations with my major clients today. All is not lost, as I understand it if the UK goes for the worst possible option of leave-but-stay-in-the-European-Economic-Zone (or whatever it's called) then they most likely will not pull the plug.

Most of the contracts are on a rolling year basis but we'll be reviewing how things are going and see who we need to put on notice.

I sort of discount W. The size of a minor city. Insignificant.

Okay, okay only joking. I love Wales. If England and Wales want to be called Britain so be it.

Stunningly, the part of Wales I live in voted to Remain (against my expectations).

I have to remark at the hilarity I am seeing in the reactions of the pro-EU crowd. It reminds me of the way conservatives reacted when Obama was elected. Relax, the sky isn't falling.

I hope you're right. I'll find out over the coming days, weeks and months whether my E.U. clients are still willing to business.

Ramifications world wide:

To put it in perspective the firing of Finance Minister Nene will probably indirectly lead to Jacob Zuma faction losing power within the ANC and the ANC losing a lot of votes during the South African local elections in August.

Has Brexit added to the impact of Nene's firing? The reason I ask is that Brexit will have no impact on Australia's election in just over a week.

I don't think so as the things impacting the election are very local (local candidate lists being the biggest issue). I'm not sure if the full economic impact will be felt by the time the elections roll around on the 3rd of August.

Maybe he bought a ******** of sterling last week.

Turnbull is saying 'don't panic, keep it status quo here', which suggests he's a bit worried.

Well if Turnbull's worrying about Brixit it is not a totally bad thing. ;)

Seriously, I doubt it will be a major issue here.

I've heard everything from Scotland doing another ref' and rejoining the EU, to Northern Ireland joining with Ireland to get back in.

Think it is take a chill pill and wait a few months first time
