I suspect it has more to do with Putin than Murdoch, although Murdoch doesn't help.
I'd say that Murdoch had been laying the ground for years before Putin went full on interventionist.
I assumed her trip to Africa was too see if she could get some food aid back so we can stockpile for Brexit...

Interesting piece on R4 Today program yesterday. A Nigerian Gov representative was complaining that lots and lots of Nigerian money was leaving Africa and heading to the UK. They wanted UK help in keeping it in Nigeria. I presume that they are referring to EC1 as opposed to 419.

BBC News: Panasonic to move Europe headquarters from UK to Amsterdam
"Panasonic will move its European headquarters from the UK to Amsterdam in October as Brexit approaches.
The aim is to avoid potential tax issues linked to the UK's decision to leave the EU, said Panasonic Europe's chief executive Laurent Abadie.
In the run-up to March 2019, a number of multinational firms have said they plan to move jobs out of the UK.
Several Japanese financial companies have said they intend to move their main EU bases away from London.
Panasonic's decision was driven by a fear that Japan could start considering the UK a tax haven if it cuts corporate tax rates to attract business, Mr Abadie told the Nikkei Asian Review newspaper.
If Panasonic ends up paying less tax in the UK, that could render it liable for a bigger tax bill in Japan."

What you have to ask yourself is how much in taxes Panasonic does pay now in the UK.

According to companies house the turnover of Panasonic Europe was £97m in 2016 with £18m in CT add in £19m VAT.
Say another 1/2 mil in taxes on the 20 employees wages and you are looking at roughly £ 37.5m a year. Not a lot, about £1.20 a year extra for every UK taxpayer. But of course this is only 1 company.

I am sure it is peanuts compared to the money Ress-Mogg has made betting against the UK.£ 37m here, £ 37m there, pretty soon you'll be talking real money!
A very quick check shows 27 Panasonic companies in the UK (I listed the figures for one). The Brexit issue is not the people, it is when the Corporate centers move and the profits and tax move that we need to find replacements. We need a lot of extra sales of Dance DVD's to Nigeria to make up the losses.
If you look closer, you will notice that the accounts are filed in € not £, and the 2016 CT figure is a credit, not a charge.
