But yes, it has now become a point of political principle and consequences be damned. The people voted (by a small margin in a non-binding referendum) to Leave and so we will leave even if we have to destroy the UK economy in the process.

It becomes an interesting line of argument if you also apply it to General Elections, depending on what you think of the different parties economic policies.

I hope that David Davis, before his resignation, has placed an order with a printer for a large batch of rationing coupons. Otherwise, on April 1st, you'll have empty shelves in the local Tesco and queues lining up in front of it.

OK, now I see what you mean about Corbyn thinking that Brexit brings the socialist paradise closer. :D

As expected, the Brexit deal is a direct appeal to the low information voters who think that the low single-digit percentage of GDP fishing and farming sectors are more important than the services sector.

The government's plan for UK relations with the EU will restrict jobs and is a "real blow", the governing body of London's financial district has said.

The City of London Corporation and finance groups are unhappy plans for EU and UK financial services to mutually recognise rules have been dropped.

Services, including banks, insurance companies and investment firms, make up 80% of the UK economy and are one of its most successful exports to the EU.

A case of the tail wagging the dog if ever there was one.

Rees Mogg on White Paper -

“This is the greatest vassalage since King John paid homage to Phillip II at Le Goulet in 1200. This White paper has not needed age to turn yellow. " - just in case it wasn't clear, he says he won't vote for it

If he's so afraid of vassalage, why did he campaign to give up a position of influence in the EU to become a likely US vassal once the trade deals are done ?

I suspect he's going to get paid. Have you seen the list of people he's beholden to who pay him more money than do the Exchequer? Loyalty lies, first and foremost, to the person or institution paying the most.

As is Boris

As did Arron

They're all going to get paid. That's why they're doing it. I think it's probably a great British tradition - borderline traitorous actions in return for cash.

The plan appears to be to become a tax haven, hence the distancing from EU who have a downer on that sort of thing.

Given the rapidly growing national debt I cannot possibly see the problem about lowering tax rates and alienating the trading bloc which accounts for close to 50% of exports (remembering the importance of services exports and the fact that we have a large trade surplus with the EU in services).

LOL.

Is he going to don his chainmail and lead the ERG into battle to reconquer Normandy?

There is something apt in comparing this cabinet with the family of Henry II, where Eleanor had taught her sons from kindergarten on how to rebel against their father and backstab each other.

Yes it should be Sextus. Latin people read a book!

I originally typed Sextus, assuming that was the name, but looked up the kid's name first. I don't even know Latin!! He's a twat and ignorant. (Mogg, not Captain_Swoop). :D

Dominic Raab off to a rocky start. Tries to present the White Paper before it's available to MPs. Chaos ensues. Speaker berates him, copies of the document found and flung around. :D

ffs

Out of his depth already and resorting to tactics so cheap that even The Telegraph rails against it.

Yes but Raab had been a remainer and the Telegraph, like its natural demographic (manyalmost all of Dad's friends) are brexiteers. My godfather told me that it was probably all for the best. Strangely, it's the ones who were partners in local businesses with little interaction with Europe except for holidays that think this way. The ones who had careers with wider trading are firmly against it.

Sun trumpeting an exclusive interview with Trump

WORLD EXCL: Donald Trump warns Theresa May her soft Brexit blueprint will "kill" any future trade deal with the US

Donald Trump: 'I told May how to do Brexit but she wrecked it - US trade deal is off!'

Trump tells me: "If they do a deal like that, we would be dealing with the European Union instead of dealing with the UK, so it will probably kill the trade deal".

Trump likes Boris
“I have a lot of respect for Boris. He obviously likes me, and says very good things about me.

“I was very saddened to see he was leaving government and I hope he goes back in at some point.

“I think he is a great representative for your country.”
