Johnson also likes the whole Trump lie and then deny ever saying the lie even with evidence. he then looks a bit shamefaced and bumbling and often gets away with it.

That Eddie Mair interview should be shown to anyone who thinks Johnson is a harmless buffoon.

Apparently there was enough detail in "leave the EU" for everyone to make an informed decision.

Boris strongly criticised the PM and her Brexit plans before voting for them. That's him covered both ways then. If they work out he voted for them, if they don't he objected but 'cabinet responsibility' and all that.

I don't.

I would classify that in the "obligations" part of my post.

The "shared burden of operation" part is a reference to ceptimus' frequent complaints about the financial aspects of the U.K.'s settlement with the E.U. as part of the Brexit negotiations, with the idea that contributing to maintenance and expansion (e.g. paying dues) is among the shared burdens of belonging to a club.

It's the sort of club where some members pay a membership fee, but some other members receive money from the club - that is, they are paid to be members.
 
It's something that some of the members collectively agreed to do (and of course the members in receipt of the money don't have any objections). Meanwhile, members that don't like the system have the option of leaving the club (and being expected to pay through the nose even after they've left).

You mean they are expected to satisfy future commitments they had already made while being members?

Do you think that someone can just relieve themselves of financial obligations which they have already made by saying magic words, "I quit."?

The club may not be able to force them to incur new ones, but the ones already made are still valid.

What is your basis for believing they wouldn't be?

Nonsense. Do you honestly believe that their are not some EU countries that are net recipients? I know this as a fact, and any reasonably educated person would know the same.

Asking for 'backup with numbers' for such non contentious facts is just a form of diversion. It would take less time for anyone unaware of the facts to Google EU net recipients than it would to quibble and bicker in this thread.

The problem with this for the political parties is that any changes to the benefits system is seen as a vote loser. The same with the constant need to be seen to reduce taxes whilst at the same time raising public spending.

Are you not aware the "benefits system" is undergoing its biggest and most widespread change in its history?
