I didn't see a thread for this anywhere so I'm posting this in a new one.

So Brewer walks up to the President and invites him to a meeting, to which the President says "after our last meeting, you lied about it in your book". So she immediately proves him right by running to the press and lying about the conversation. 3 out of the 4 people present say she misrepresented what happened.

Do I have the facts straight? I'm honestly perplexed why Teabaggers think this is some sort of coup for their side.

See, I never read anything about 3 out of 4 of those present saying she misrepresented what happened (not that I would necessarily take them at their word). All I remember is all I'm probably supposed to remember: there was a confrontation. Oooh, drama, conflict, and I'm supposed to takeaway that all politicians suck, Democrat and Republican. Obama could have been 100% correct, but 99% of the public that paid attention will be locked into the initial story and images.

I think it just proves that republicons, especially of a tea flavor, have no bloody class.

It's very simple. The radical right is so convinced that they can take over this country, if not by manipulating their victims, then by brute force, that they feel no more reason to be truthful, and are showing that their only trust is in their own brute force and barbarism.

Here you go.

But Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton, who was standing just feet away from the president and the governor on Wednesday during their now-infamous encounter, told TPM that Obama seemed calm the whole time.

[...]

Stanton, a Democrat, is now the second elected Arizona official whose account of the incident contradicts the way Brewer has described it.

The other politician on hand to greet the president, Republican Mayor Scott Smith of Mesa, Ariz., told TPM on Thursday that the discussion between the president and governor was an “awkward moment” but little more than that.

I miss Arizona, and I miss Fitz, but I am glad I have no part in a state governed by this embarrassment (it was bad enough having Kyle in the senate). Of course, my current governor makes Brewer look like Marie Curie.

I think it is a bit of a non-story. I only heard about it watching Bill Maher's programme and thought there was very little to be upset about.

Much better is Bill Maher's impersonation of the Republicans listening to Obama's State of the Union address.

The munchkin was intimidated because Obama had to lean closer to hear what she was saying over the APU noise. What a mental light weight.

Does anyone believe this isn't political BS on the part of Brewer?

Apparently Brewer claimed her father had died in WW2 at the hands of the Nazis.

It wasn't even close to being true.

“They are awful,” she said. “Knowing that my father died fighting the Nazi regime in Germany, that I lost him when I was 11 because of that…and then to have them call me Hitler’s daughter. It hurts. It’s ugliness beyond anything I’ve ever experienced.”

The problem, as many discovered after the quote went viral, was that it wasn’t true. Brewer’s father had in fact died of lung disease in California in 1955, a decade after WWII ended.

The woman is a pathological liar. Perfect for the Teabaggers.
