BREAKING: Israeli Labor Party Agrees to Join Next Gov't.

The way Ehud Barak is going, he would join the moonies if it promised him government power.

Israeli political coalitions never seize to amaze. :) Likud, Yisrael Beteinu, Labour and Shas in one government :jaw-dropp

Barak only had a small majority of support within his own party for this move:
680 of the central committee members voted in favor of joining the coalition, while 570 voted against. The voter turnout stood at 78 percent of the committee members.

Good question.

One thing's for sure, though: if it doesn't last, it won'd be due to Labor.

If tomorrow Neytanyahu demands that all Labor government members must appear for meetings in a clown suit, Barak will accept it.

You know the drill: "We have made this great concession out of fear to the country's future in these critical times... Likud's demand for a clown suit is merely cosmetic, not a matter of principle, and we're here to protect out principles..."

Etc., etc. etc.

Yeah, it's basically a Three Ring Circus ---

For one thing, Bibi can actually expect Yvett to be taking a little vacation, once indictments are handed down against him.

For another, Bibi doesn't need to actually DO anything vis-a-vis the Palestinians. They are in self-destruct mode anyway, unable to form their "unity gov't" with HAMAS in Gaza.

Thirdly, Bibi won't be concerned much about the pressures from USA, since he knows how to speak English well enough to explain to the American administration exactly what needs to happen in regards to the continuation of the Peace Process.

BTW, ddt, this is a fairly robust coalition, in terms of how it's formed. There isn't a heck of a lot that the opposition can do to bring about the downfall of this Knesset over the next four years. In fact, this might actually be the first time in a long time that a full Knesset term is achieved without early elections.

I'll take your bet.

Yisrael Beiteinu was victorious overall in the mock elections held in 10 high schools across the country.

Please continue to alert us to legitimate complaints about the conduct of the IDF, but hyperbole like this just weakens your arguments and makes you look like a raving antisemitic fanatic.

Would you really like to put the Israeli army up against those in Sudan, Rwanda, Congo? Recent actions by Serbs, Croats, and the Russians in Chechnya? How about the Chinese army in Tibet?
