Merged Boston Marathon CTs

Yes - it was the first question Gov Deval Patrick took... "Why did the announcer say - remain calm before the first device went off?"..."was this a false flag event"......

Then he kept yelling it out throughout the remainder of the questioning.

Good god.

Looks like someone escaped from their moms basement..during a police press conference someone somehow sneaks in the question "was this a false flag attack designed to take away our freedoms?"

Answer "No. Next question."

I have to give it to the guy - I wouldn't be able to just say no and move on.

You know as usual the NWO folks are both all knowing and diabolical yet seem to routinely fail at the easy details. Diabolical enough to plant a bomb at the Boston marathon designed as a false flag attack, yet no one in the NWO False Flag Department issued the order to make sure no bomb sniffing dogs were used.

Of course, the alternative explanation would be that no amount of security can catch everything, and in a large enough area (like say, a 4 hour running marathon that stretches for miles) you could plant a bomb and not have dogs find it....nah. Must be a false flag NWO op. That makes much more sense.

This was debunked on ATS a few hours ago, pretty much as soon it was discovered.

While the ATS thread on this has carried the typical knee-jerk False-Flag comments, a strong majority are hold a "wait and see" attitude... while speculating on the possibility of domestic/foreign terrorism. Hopefully, the "conspiracy lunacy" surrounding Sandy Hook has resulted in well-learend lessons. (at least for the ATS-corner)

I saw it happen. Patrick's response was admirable.

Credit where credit is due. You have a handful of people debunking the lunatics. However - I don't know where you get the characterization that a "strong majority" aren't jumping off the deep end. I haven't read all 60+ pages but in the ones I have looked at more than half are conspiracy mongering. At this point no one knows what happened. Any amount of speculation - much less conspiracy mongering - is insane. But a majority of ATSers never let that hold them back and as usual all the conspiracy mongering is based on either:

(1) Even though everyone knows early news reports of any event like this are wildly inconsistent and often inaccurate, I'm seeing dozens of ATS posts picking apart early reports - finding small inconsistencies -and proclaiming proof of conspiracy. Which of course makes no sense, because its based on the assumption it must be a conspiracy and meticulously planned by the NWO/Illuminati/whatever and as such any inconsistencies in reporting magically become proof of conspiracy.
or
(2) Same old tropes from Sandy Hook: claims of actors, people not understanding how google works and finding news stories/facebook pages about the event with time stamps dated before this afternoon, etc.
or
(3) Since this occured in a highly visible place, we have lots of gore video and pictures. The media, since its not supposed to show that, early one tried to edit it out as it went to make it something they could air for TV. As expected when everyone is rushing to get this stuff on the air, they messed up frequently resulting in sometimes only partial gore edits. Even though in the context of the situation this makes perfect sense and is no way proof of a conspiracy, this will be used as evidence.

Looks like the exact same (incredibly stupid) conspiracy mongering to me. However, I will give ATS some credit - looks like you have sizable portion of people not conspiracy mongering compared to places like GLP or infowars, who all decided this was a NWO false flag 5 minutes afterwards. However, if in the coming days ATS doesn't feature dozens of baseless, highly flagged and starred threads with people using tropes from (1), (2), and (3) I will eat my hat.

Crass bastards.

I've already had to listen to a RWer rant about Muslims and a LWer get on about the Tea Party, but at this point the only true thing is the casualty list.

Let's worry about trying to heal victims before we hang the perps.

I only skimmed through the ATS stuff on the incident; seems pretty bad to me. Incident occurring on Israel Independence day and whatnot. Still better than the Alex Jones vomitorium, I guess.

Not a bad slogan... ATS: Less Disgusting than InfoWars!

The cult leaders are preaching... all you minions repeat after me, false flag!!! And the sheeple are believing and reciting it without question or hesitation...

Someone posted on my Facebook page that O'Reilly was saying it was a false flag and comparing the government to Nazis. Anybody else heard this? I've googled and can't find anything about it.

I thought I recognized the voice and after a little searching I was right. The question came from Dan Bidondi the local CT celebrity from Rhode Islands end of the Blackstone Valley. I first stumbled upon his work when he was going nuts because the Korean War memorial in Providence has a UN flag along with the USA and South Korean flags.

You're making that up. In the two main threads, representing over 2,200 replies (as of now) "actor" is mentioned only once, but not in the context you've fabricated.

Really, SO? You are scraping the barrel here, and its obvious. Out of my entire post, THIS is what you choose to point out? I never said all those themes were currently on ATS, I said:

However, if in the coming days ATS doesn't feature dozens of baseless, highly flagged and starred threads with people using tropes from (1), (2), and (3) I will eat my hat.

I even noted that my list was just from skimming posts, which means it is not representative:

I haven't read all 60+ pages but in the ones I have looked at more than half are conspiracy mongering.

The entire point was my contention that these themes would become popular on ATS just like with Sandy Hook. It hasn't even been 12 hours from the event. When a few days have passed and almost none of the resident lunatics have made any crises actor posts, then you can come on here and tell me I am wrong.

I think you are in deep denial. ATS is a cesspit of conspiracy lunacy, and it always has been - you encourage deranged people for a living. Its how you make your money. Maybe thats finally getting to you, which is why you keep popping up on JREF? But I guess when that check comes in every month it assuages all those feelings about encouraging people to be paranoid fruitcakes. I want you to know that its your site that inspired me to start requiring The Paranoid Style of American Politics, Conspiracy Theories, Magical Thinking, and the Paranoid Style(s) of Mass Opinion. and other essays on conspiracy paranoia as part of all my political science classes. I even use ATS posts as examples of why conspiracy mongering is so irrational - and I update those examples every semester with current content. And no matter the semester, I can always find textbook examples of lunacy within 5 minutes of looking at ATS. So I guess I do owe you thanks.

But that doesn't mean the site is any less disgusting for its promotion of stupidity.

You disgust me.

Interesting that. Often times, here in this venue proclaiming "skepticism" I see speculative theories of conspiracies discounted for one discrepancy in many claims. And rightfully so, we must presume that if one point is exaggerated or contrived, the entire story is suspect.

So I simply point out a similar flaw in your response -- not necessarily playing tit-for-tat, but there it is -- and suddenly it's disgusting.

Yes, there are still misinformed and ill-prepared members on ATS poking about the scraps of bottom-feeders. There are even a few proclaiming false-flag. However, my point was, the majority of comments are attempting to be more pragmatic than what we're seeing elsewhere in the "conspiracy universe."

I'm sorry you're unable to accept a nit-pick on one of your points, and that it resulted in your disgust for me rather than adult conversation.

The "You disgust me" that I quoted was the closing line when I replied. Thanks for removing it. Maybe we can approach adult conversation. Beer?

Actually, if you spend some time on Reddit, you'll see that what you described is happening with a higher frequency there than ATS. And, on ATS, such comments are typically followed by someone interjecting that early reports are full of mayhem, inaccuracies, and speculation based on rumors.

And then, there's Twitter. Don't get me started about the lunacy that's coming over Twitter right now.
