Actually, I would agree that the Catholics are getting a disproportionate bad rap for the abuses. I think the later "4%" statistics from the end of February were settled on as being more accurate the earlier "1.8%" ones.
I stumbled across a Christian lady who had staked out a corner of a religious forum a couple years ago. She had been abused by a priest as a child, despite this she kept her faith and viewed her little Internet space as a kind of ministry.
It was heartbreaking to read. To accept her testimony or the validity of her faith I needed to believe in a God who stood by silently while those who serve in his name molest and abuse.
Where is the honor? It is easier to not believe.
Yes, perhaps the church closures are simply an act of a just God.
