Bobby Fisher exhumed in paternity question

There's no evidence that even remotely suggests that Fischer's antisemitic drivel was the result of some "mental disease" rather than the fact that he was just another common racist douchebag, and absent an actual medical diagnosis by a doctor who's qualified to make one, trying to trivialize or downplay Fischer's douchebaggery by dismissing it as an unfortunate and involuntary symptom of a non-existent medical condition is wishful thinking on the part of his cult of sycophants.
Is that your official opinion Dr. Checkmite?
I like how those of us who don't venerate him are communist sympathizers, though. I say we call this kind of reasoning "Fischer Random Debate".
Call it how you view chess exposes your world view.

What does that have to do with Fischer?
As a self-appointed Fischer expert, you should know this. The same wiki page says:
Fischer used the older descriptive chess notation system when recording his games, never switching to the modern algebraic system.
And the wiki page on "My 60 Memorable Games" says about the 1995 edition:
Chess writer and Grandmaster John Nunn converted the original descriptive chess notation to modern algebraic notation using a computer program. At a press conference in Buenos Aires in June 1996, Fischer denounced the new edition, accusing Batsford of "changing everything in my book, the notation, the format, the pages, the analysis... and without paying royalties."
So yes, Fischer was upset at a change to algebraic notation.

You wouldn't think you are a stronger player than a commie baiting ass would you:rolleyes:
You somehow miss the concept that this thread is about a famous chess player, not about politics.

Grasping at straws. That he wasn't mentally ill is the null hypothesis.

Sounds like a false dichotomy. He can be mentally ill and a douchebag. These are not mutually exclusive. A guy who has all his metal fillings taken out of his teeth because he's worried about radio waves, well, positing some sort of mental illness is probably reasonable.

I don't get it either. Kasparov was a member of the Communist Party and on the central committee of Komsomol, yet venerating him is just dandy. Fischer's conduct in 1972 was shameful. His refusal to defend was cowardly. Nobody claims these elements when trying to paint the whole story as a glorious victory for the USA over the evil empire.

One could imagine how some would have spun it had Karpov been the one refusing to show, about how he was scared of the US, etc.

You're calling Kasparov a comrade and he is anything but.

Rascals wouldn't see reason in 1972. Trying to use commie propaganda to diminish Fischer's brilliant victory is transparent and doesn't fool anyone.

Don't be so sure. Fischer's mom was a commie and she clearly wasn't a good mom. (or maybe you were not thinking of procreation:rolleyes:)

Yeah, sad to say:

I'm Bobby"s real dad.

Balderdash. Misinformed is perfectly sufficient. Reference California's concern about cell phones causing brain cancer.

I say Occam's Razor is plenty enough to make him "just a douchebag". I've heard of mental illnesses that make people think the devil or God is talking to them. I've yet to read of a case where someone's mental illness caused him to call for the death of all (insert race/ethnicity/religion) here.

Yeah, being on the central committee of the Young Communists is a good indication someone isn't a communist.

Wouldn't see reason? He won. Yippee. He also acted like a jerk and refused to defend, and even then rather than be honest about it he hid behind that absolutely absurd "nine games to nine is a tie" provision.

I think we can agree that a personality disorder isn't really a "mental illness." It seems pretty clear he has that, given that is more or less what "just a douchebag" is.

I do a lot of involuntary commitment work, and you see racial/religious paranoia here or there. I can fairly say that he's someone I would advise being evaluated, and my guess based on my rather thin experience is that he's be diagnosed with something, probably not severe enough to explain away his being a raging dickhead.

Yes, it is. Is Kasporov a commie today? Do you think he may have had some type of preasure to join a crap/evil/discredited political party at a young age? What are you thinking? All the brilliant young chess players behind the iron curtain happened to also decide to join the commie party? You can't be that naive. You must be that much of a commie sympathizer.

The "nine games to tie" rule wouldn't have kept Fischer from winning the world title. What's wrong with having to win decidedly.

You somehow missed the concept I was calling checkmite out to play a best out of three game tournament with the clock set between 20 and 120 minutes.

(I'm now calling you out while I'm thinking of it) let's see you beat me. You decide clock time over 20 minutes (I don't play five minute chess).

I'll call out that Suddenly rascal while I'm at it. You think you are a stronger player than me? Let's make arrangements.

Central committee? He not only joined, he was a leader of a section of the party.

Not all chess players joined the party. Boris Gulko didn't and paid a steep price. Others defected. Kasparov may not have been a serious communist, but to say he wasn't a communist because he was "forced" or "pressured" is an insult to those like Gulko who took a serious stand.

The "nine games to tie" rule wouldn't have kept Fischer from winning the world title. What's wrong with having to win decidedly.

What? As it was, the champion effectively had draw odds as the champion retained the title if the match was drawn. Fisher wanted to add "only can beat me by one" odds to that, which was nonsense and clearly a "poison pill" provision so that he could farcically blame someone else because he didn't want to play.

Central committee?
Central committee:confused:

The "get me out of the commie party" section.

Not all chess players joined the party. Boris Gulko didn't and paid a steep price.
Why should he have paid a high price if the commies weren't evil?
Others defected.
Are you saying he should have defected or forever kept his mouth shut? You say that and say the commies aren't evil? Why not admire that he now stands up for what is right?
Kasparov may not have been a serious communist, but to say he wasn't a communist because he was "forced" or "pressured" is an insult to those like Gulko who took a serious stand.
Did you just read what you wrote? You wrote the commies were evil and were either punished or defected.
Kasporov is now fighting them. He succeeded better at finding a way to fight back better than Gulko (who paid a steep price but is ineffective) and "others" who defected and didn't stay to fight another day. Kasporov continued the good fight and won. He fights against commies to this day despite daily chance of assassination. Get your priorities in order.

Winning by one game against a non-drawing seeking opponent isn't unfair.

If we ever meet in Las Vegas one day at the meeting you won't dodge playing me will you ?
