Bin Laden Dead Truthers Mourn

He was unarmed. Doesn't matter. I'm still betting that the operator who pulled the trigger on him didn't know who he was shooting at the time.

Yes a capture might have been nice, but capturing someone who "loves death" isn't exactly an easy thing to do when the bullets are flying. Besides, we did get lots of Intel from there, maybe it was decided by the higher ups that he wasn't needed alive since it would be safe to assume he'd have all kinds of records there. Hope I'm still around when they decide to de-classify it.

Welcome new guy!!

I am willing to bet that SEAL Team Six member knew exactly who he was shooting at. They knew who their target was. They knew who they were going after.

But, I guarantee that if Osama had surrendered, they would have taken him into custody. It's kinda the rules of war.

I find it interesting that NO Muslim leaders seem to be upset that he was shot...only that he was buried improperly.

I guess his death in this manner wasn't entirely unexpected.

I remember seeing that video and being very impressed by it. I don't think this attitude is unique to the US Navy. When I saw a documentary on the sinking of the Bismark, for instance, I got the distinct impression from all witnesses to the event that sailors have a real distaste for killing. Their job is to sink the enemy's ships, not kill the men on them...although that often happens.

In particular, one of the British sailors became very emotional when he described having to leave behind a number of German sailors to die in the water. People who, earlier, had been trying to kill him.

ETA: The movie Das Boot portrays a similar attitude among German sailors. After an enemy ship is set ablaze, they all cheer...then become suddenly sobered when they see the ship's crew dying in the flames.

Do sailors tend to be more spiritual than other branches of the AF?

Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea!

The only time I sat through a class on that sort of thing years ago, we were instructed never to multilate the body of an enemy or help outrselves to their personal posessions for self-enrichment. Graves Registration would handle the body and make all due efforts to either return the bodies to next of kin or bury the remains in a decent manner, preferrably with a cleric of the appropriate faith in attendance.

Obviously, handing OBL's remains to his family was not an otion and there is no way you hand them to people who would have something to gain by mutilating them and blaming us.

We afford our own criminals that right after executing them for even the most horrendous crimes. Killed or captured enemies are entitled to the same.
Most soldiers would question whether your statement meets that standard.
I typically enjoy your positions, in this case, I disagree.

returning his remains was an option... just a poor one.

the criminal comparison is a non sequitur.

was not speaking from a soliders point of view, only from a skeptical citizen's POV.

No, it most certainly was not. No country would take the remains.

Secondly, Muslim law calls for burial at sea if the remains run the risk of being desecrated. Which, would have been a HUGE risk!

David Icke was kind enough to send me an email with this awesome link:

For the tl;dr crowd: The article says that UBL died in 2001 and GWB knew about it.

It's a bunch of crap, really...but seriously...who in their right mind would believe that GWB would hide that info and let a Democrat take all the credit for it later?

I like Prison Planet fer the LOLZ.

Yes. I got that too, this very morn.

It's simply a rehash of the old OBL rubbish that he was knackered on dialysis and kicked the bucket wayback in 2001

But made me wonder. Who is this "Steven R. Pieczenik"?

"Deputy Assistant Under-Secretary" is a "top US Governement Insider"??

Did a quick search here, nothing shows on the guy.

First I've heard of him. Icke dredged this one up from 2002 it seems (transcript of original AJ/Pieczenik HERE Mediafire download, .docx).

It seems (from the transcript) this guy is a walking Tom Clancy novel, he (claims he) is an infowarrior who coined the phrase "crisis manager", a Havard graduate with a Phd from MIT, a colonel at the age of 32 (was offered 07 later but wanted to go maverick) was sent down to Panama to inform Noriega that the game was up, taught psychological operations at Carlyle War College, set up negotiations between Gorbachev and Reagan, worked for (and against) Arafat, Saddam Hussien and Bin Laden, travelled to Cambodia to stop Pol Pot, is on the killing list of the Red Brigade and a lot of other terrorist groups all over the world.....and lots LOTS more.

He also claims Clancy's Jack Ryan was based on him.

Looks like there may be some question as to the legality of the kill.

Oops. Sorry world, we'll do better next time.

Promise! :D

Sometimes you have to make a choice between legality and pragmatism.

If you've got more guns than anyone else, it makes the decision easier.

Just sayin'....

Google searches on this guy are 95% CT sites, the other 5% is someone mentioning he helped create some books with Tom Clancy.

His website makes him sound bigger than life itself. I'm calling shenanigans.

Use your head. The search for Osama Bin Laden helped fuel the military expansion that made his cronies very wealthy.

Multiple reports over a period noted his kidney failure. The man has been dead for ages.

We are using our brains, that's why we can easily see that these delusions you've bought into are ridiculous.

aggle-rithm, you know the drill. ANY report that confirms his world view is automatically more credible. Where have you been? ;)
