This is more of the fallacious "if you are not for me you are a bad person" attitude that permeates the entire FOX so-called news organization.

Wow. just ...wow.

O'Reilly showed himself to be uninformed and a moron on at least very important two points in that story. First, in his ignorance, he irresponsibly declared the Stockholm syndrome phony, thus putting at least part of the blame on the victim. In this case, an 11 to 15 year old child.

Second, at the time O'Reilly stuck his foot in his mouth, the subject of Devlin being a child molester had already been brought up by the police. O'Reilly had to know this and still declared that Devlin had made things easy for Hornbeck and that Hornbeck was having more fun with Devlin.

Was O'Reilly intend to say that being molested is more fun than chores and school? I seriously doubt it. Did O'Reilly do what he always does and re-frame the facts of the situation to fit his world view rather than having a world view that reflects the facts? You betcha and then some.

There is a lot wrong with his statement. It is intellectually dishonest on a number of counts. It puts blame on Hornbeck for what Devlin did to him. It is a shameful and hypocritical for a man who makes claims like "I'm looking out for you", "fair and balanced", and "culture warrior".

Just to make things clear, he said that before Devlin was ever charged with child molestation and before he had even plead not guilty and before the authorities or the parents ever disclosed that he had indeed molested the kid. In fact, the show he said that on was 4 days before the boy's parents even officially said that they believed he was molested. So it was before anyone knew anything of what had passed- all the more reason to shut up, I know.

At the time, everyone was asking why he hadn't run away when he had thousands of opportunities to do so. So O'Reilly offered his theory. And ended up with egg on his face when the truth came to light.

Well, he's never said that Muslims should never fly again or that all Jews should convert or that interracial couples are just doing it for the attention or called a Presidential candiadte the f-word or anything resembling Ann's greatest hits.

He suppossedly apologized to his viewers about the weapons of mass destruction thing, long before The New York Times did. He took the time to chew Bush out on capital punishment when he appeared on his show. He was also critical of the Pope for the way he handled the child molestation scandals. And he's gone after Sylvia Browne and Montel.

As a German and not having constant access or any access at all to American TV (even CNN that is broadcasted here is a "world-version"), thus mainly seeing snippets or what foxnews.com has to offer, I have to say that I don't agree with him on some issues, but I like the format and that he lets the "enemy", ie Democrats etc, onto the show, even if it sometimes gets a little hairy, he let's them tell you about their side and has some interesting discussions, at least from what I've seen so far after spending some time on the subject of O'Reilly.

I haven't spend much time on her, but I didn't see anything bad about that interview, whereas some people I've talked to about it found it to be highly anti-Semitic for reasons they couldn't explain heh.

You can be objective and then come to a conclusion you know. Also, just because a source presents one side does not mean the information presented is necessarily unreliable. You have to go a step further to discount a source than to just show they have an opinion.

No, I don't think she is but the interview doesn't speak highly of her tolerance, either. Eh, you could explain. She was asked what would make America a better place and she basically said making the entire population Christian and the clearly baffled host asked her about that again and the following exchange took place:

DEUTSCH: ... we should just throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians, then, or ...

COULTER: Yeah.

DEUTSCH: Really?

COULTER: Well, it's a lot easier. It's kind of a fast track.

DEUTSCH: Really?

COULTER: Yeah. You have to obey.

DEUTSCH: You can't possibly believe that.

COULTER: Yes.

It was pretty clear that this kid did not like his step-father...despite all the playacting the stepdad did for the cameras, it was obvious as hell they detested each other...still.

The kid was what, 15 when he was found? Had his own cell...his own GUN?

You don't like O'Reilly and that's fine...I don't like him. I think he's phony as hell with all that "who's lookin' out for the folks," crap. But who is this proof of anything but his actually SAYING what everyone in the media was reporting, but not admitting.

It's as if some news reporter actually noted that a criminal with a hyphenated Spanish surname is an illegal.

Are you suggesting this kid taken and abused when he was 12 somehow preferred to be sexually abused by the pig who took him because the kid hated his stepfather and enjoyed his cell phone and not having to go to school?

Actually, I have seen his show and the one on Hornbeck in particular. It is what O'Reilly was saying as I saw it. Not only that, you can see it for yourself. The video is right there on the Media Matters story. It seemed to me O'Reilly just couldn't comprehend why a child taken into such horrendous circumstances 4 years earlier would not have run to the police once he had the chance years later. It amounts to O'Reilly's and a lot of people's complete ignorance in psychology research and science.

I read the actual original news report from Ross though I'm having trouble finding a link to this older story. The bottom line in the actual report was torture got all kinds of results. Trouble was none of the results actually amounted to anything reliable. On the O'Reilly segment Ross said there were terror plots thwarted but I'm pretty sure that isn't what actually happened. I'll have to keep looking for the original story.

We must have had a different reaction to O'Reilly's sexual harassment charge and settlement with the female producer. If you've ever heard O'Reilly read from his novel [gag] and noted the parallels to the sexual harassment lawsuit he quickly settled when the tapes were disclosed [gag]... I'm sorry, yes the guy is rotten. He's disgusting.



The thing that made this event really disgusting is a clip from Bill's fiction book, Those Who Trespass, read by Bill has a scene that is very similar to the phone sex caught on tape about the loofa in the shower. Frankin played this clip repeatedly. Bill says really stupid stuff like, "Hey baby, get my pipe up." or something close. Unfortunately I couldn't readily find a YouTube version of it.

Yea, I saw the interview and read the transcript. Given that she's being asked about her dreamworld, I don't hold her statements against her or would say she's intolerant based on that interview. What I understood is that she's saying Jews would be happier if they were Christians, because then their sins would have been forgiven, they don't have to be so obedient to get a chance not to end up in hell etc. I didn't like Deutsch's approach of making it an evil anti-semitic statement out of it.
