Merged Bigfoot follies

You talking 'bout Huntster or Rick Noll?

RayG
 That's a really good question actually. Both have that same attitude huh (i.e. indefatigable ignorance of their shortcomings?). They both believe that if they think it, then it's instantly and irrevocably legitimate because they "thinked it". How much more legitimacy do you need? Actually, they're both on an interstate ego trip in a dilapidated '62 VW bus that's low on oil and leaking gas.

Huntster. He´s a classic troll, if you ask me. Yes, I know nobody asked, but I’ll say it anyway. He was brought here ages ago by LAL when she asked BFF folks to join JREF to help her defending bigfoot and bigfootery. Fire support was his perceived role, I guess. He entered and left my ignore list a couple of times.

He admitted being a troll– I once questioned him if he could present something other than offenses; anything of any use to contribute to the discussions or counter my arguments. He said no. He said since he could not counter my arguments, all that he could do was to be offensive, attempting to somehow change the situation. So, he tries hard to be a cyber bully, playing the though guy role. He’s not the single and only footer to act like this.

I lost my temper with him one too many times before learning how to deal with the situation; I probably would have already received a fair share of warnings and suspensions if our dialogues were happening now. I actually have, however, to thank him by showing me how to handle people like him. Seeing his obvious frustration and the many gaskets he blew once I stopped feeling annoyed and offended by his offensive behavior was, I must admit, rather fun.

He couldn’t admit being wrong, at least online and at JREF. He once accused me of stalking him at other subforums and also of being a Kitakaze sockpuppet. I said something like “OK big boy, show your cards. Tell the mods/admins. Both things are against the rules. They will investigate it and if you are right, I and Kitakaze will be banned. You’ll at last will be proven right in something and shut us up for good.” His answer was pathetic. He said “In his mind that’s all we are and he needed nothing else but this”. Typical footer behavior. Claims to be quite close to proving his point, bigfoot is right there behind the next tree, at last its time to shut up all the skeptics, at last the day of reckoning will dawn… And then… Whoops, sorry, gotta stop right now and go home.

But the worst aspects of his personality surfaces when discussion religion. His defenses of the genocides described in the Bible are disgusting. How a person can defend slaughtering children “because they are the sons of the enemies” while living in the XXI century under a democracy and enjoying all the privileges of a modern society is beyond my understanding. Disgusting, again.

The odds are he’s reading what we are writing about him and will blow some gaskets and enter in to some sort of tantrum. Too bad for him. Well, maybe he’ll become happy because we are paying attention to him. Bet not few footers crave for attention.

LAL ahhhh that was a real peach as well...whatever happened to her, don't see her posting on BFF or haven't noticed?

Good lord. Melba schools Standing. What a sight. (From her facebook statement.)

"One last statement on the Standing DNA. We all share some mtDNA SNPs (mutations) with chimps, Neanderthal and so on. It's the ones that we don't share that give the species identity. So, the quotes about chimp just show a lack of understanding of basic genetics. In other words, when Dr. Frapietro said it was human, that means it had mutations only found in human (even though it would have other shared mutations with other hominins and apes). If there were novel mutations, those not seen before, that would have been interesting but the only non-shared mutations were obviously human and therefore the species identity is human. The ape and ape hybrid crowd just can't seem to believe that they can be human X unknown and always try to make the genetics "fit" what they want it to be but it doesn't work that way, it is what it is and DNA doesn't lie. Like the unknown hominin DNA in the Denisovan hominin, is it so hard to believe that Sasquatch can have unknown DNA also?"

I'm a member of Project Grendel, not alot happening there for sure. Norse I have (or had until he started supporting NAWAC) confidence in and trust.
If you could see some of the tirades Hunster has gone on in the Tar Pit....he's a lunatic and you may very well hear about him on the news one day. I'm pretty far to the right he makes me look like a liberal.
I've never understood how one with any outdoor experience can take an unexplainable experience and create a boogieman.
Well actually I can and did recently but I didn't leave the woods convinced of anything other than I couldn't identify what I heard. It's fun to let your imagination run wild but you've got to stay grounded with the facts.

Norse I trusted too, until I had a protracted "debate" with him at BFF on the subject of pre-Green, Wallace, Sanderson, Ruby Creek, Bluff Creek, etc. Bigfootery. He was generally clueless and actually tried to stir up the BFF crowd against me. I expected better of him.

Btw, Norse says his father saw an ape in the woods in the PNW.

Speaking of Huntster, I actually had a nice PM exchange with him about Edgar Rice Burroughs.

My un-nice PMs involved Incorrigible (who seems to be gradually seeing the light nowadays), Bobby O, and Kerchak.

And DWA and I are blogging pals. We go way back to Cryptomundo, tearing it up there debating cryptids. He was always wrong, of course.

I'm still in touch with her: she's a really nice person. Careful, because she is a member here.

I think she is one of the most interesting footers that ever appeared around here. She is certainly one of the most articulated, if not the most. She can gather a lot of information; contrary to most footers she actually searches outside bigfootery realm. Her belief in bigfoot not having been shaken by the info she gathered is something that amazes me. I believe she spent a no small amount of time and energy within bigfootery (even if armchair) and probably some dollars too. If asked to indicate a footer that probably actually believes in bigfoot instead of just pretending to, she would be my answer.

She was part of MABRC (Is that the correct acronym? Never managed to remember it properly) and saw its implosion, Creekfreak’s scams included. Coupled with what she probably saw at bigfootery innards, should, I think, have been more than enough to carve lots of holes in her beliefs. Last time she appeared around here, her belief in bigfoot remained apparently solid.

Don’t know if she still believes; personally I think the yearly routine of successive fails and promises and hopes and hoaxes must have at least decreased her faith in bigfootery – but probably not in bigfoot.

If she still believes in all the stuff she believed and defended, I don't know. Is she does... Well... Can't imagine how. Blind faith, I guess.

I liked LAL too. She found and posted a photo of the defrosted Minnesota Ice Man, to her credit. Unfortunately, she still believed there was an original, "real," Iceman, killed in Vietnam, that ended up an American carnival side show.

Wait, what?

Of course not. All I’m saying is that she seems to actually believe. I concluded, based on her posts (actually those I read), that she believes.

Above all she’s an interesting footer. She’s able to look in to real science (even if “popular” science, the science journalism), but still somehow willing to accept stuff like some of Freeman’s hoaxes and the “activity” at Bulletmaker’s bigfoot ranch. IIRC even some of the things the “Russian Hominologist” said were accepted by her. The mental contortions required to somehow make all the hoaxes and fails compatible with science (even the material tailored for science divulgation) are challenging.

Its certain she no longer believes in Bulletmaker’s stuff, but I don’t know what other things among bigfootery she no longer believes right now. You’ll have to ask her. If she ever defended (or just kept quiet about) something she knew was a hoax or a lie, again, that’s something I don’t know. There’s a huge gray area between the honest naïve believer and the snake oil sellers.

I would like to personally commend Night Walker for his very reasonable posts over at BFF, confronting DWA and others admirably, on the issue of an elk lay erroneously converted to evidence of Bigfoot by enthusiasts. Good going NW.

^^ Agreed. I enjoyed reading those posts. Anytime anyone enters the fray against DWA I experience a little bit of schadenfruede delight, having engaged in that wind peeing exercise myself many, many times.

Thanks for the support. I don't think DWA is a "bad guy" - he is obviously intelligent, knowledgeable, and very passionate about Bigfoot. I just found it hard to follow his logic at times (but that could be my error)...

I found one of his "signature quotes" to be intriguing:

What I often tell people is that if you immerse yourself in the field, you'd be blown away by the amount of evidence. They just get pieces of the puzzle. There's a literal ton of eyewitness accounts, foot casts, hair samples and the like. It's a situation where from a mathematical standpoint, it's highly probable that these creatures exist in North America, but it's also statistically impossible that nothing is out there. It's a weird juxtaposition of highly unlikely realities, but one of them has to be right. - Ken Gerhard

Does anyone here know anything (non-cynical) about "immersion"?

He is passionate, no doubt. He is also very wrong and dishonest at times. He will prattle on about unknown primate DNA, for example, and when pressed to provide something to support that claim, he will either clam up or say well it's out there, you just have to find it like I did. I cannot stand the guy and find him to be an excellent example of the type pseudoscience you can expect from footers.

As far as immersion goes, if you ask DWA, I am sure he would hold up NAWAC as an example. He believes every word they say and has a man crush on one of the members ( who apparently looks like a scientist in a walmart parking lot or some such nonsense) that rivals his Bindernagle/Meldrum fetish.

Oh, you'll get there.

What this hale fellow means by immersion is to read all the "reports" he has --fapping optional; critical thinking abandoned--and come to the conclusion there must be something to them. Plus, trackways and Bindernagel and Meldrum and and and, NAWAC, and stuff like that.
