First of all, all of the claims currently being made by ketchum are pretty spectacular. Just looking at it from the mechanical / work level point of view, she is claiming a whole load of work. I will try to lay it out more completely in a later post, but i am skeptical.
Now: Mulder, may i address you and some of your posts.
in my opinion, you completely misunderstand the scientific method, and how science is done. Essentially, if you are going to make an extraordinanry claim, you need to provide extraordinary evidence of your claim.
And the reason you provide that evidence is so that others have the information and data they need to reproduce your results.
In this case, Melba has made extraordinary claims, and for the past 3 years has provided exactly zero in the data or methodology department.
It is not scientists job to try and come up with some sort of test to try and validate Melbas work, with her hiding whatever evidence she may have.
One more time - she has made the claims, it is now her responsibility to provide the extraordinary evidence backing up her claims. !
it is also obvious to me Mulder that you do not have a very good understanding of how DNA is done, and you clearly have no understanding of the enormity of the task of dealing with 10 billion data points! that is Billion, with a B!
DNA processing is not magic, you don't throw stuff into a machine, and have it spit back an identification. It is far more complex than that. And, you also have indicated by your various posts that yopu have no concept how gen bank works, or what it is, or it's capabilities.
Given all of those clear shortfalls in your understanding of the process, you choose to try and bully people into submission using ignorance and misinformation!
Seems to me it would be much more productive for you to become undertsanding and conversant in DNA technology and techniques. I would highly recomend to you reading Dr. Sykes 7 daughters of Eve, as a start. it is now a bit dated, but will certainly increase your understanding significantly. its actually a pretty easy and entertaining read!
Now our lesson tommorrow will address the claims from Melba that she has completely sequenced 20 mitochondrial DNA sequenses. That raises and would allow for a very interesting look at the claims of highbrid. Tune in for more tommorrow
