Bigfoot DNA

Well now Melba's claiming the nuclear DNA is non-human, non-archaic, and non-ape. Well what is it? Wombat? This "article" is destined for Atlantis Rising at best, the National Enquirer at worst.

Aren't these claims of 'angels' and 'aliens' coming from none Ketchum sources. I'm not defending her, but there seem to be a lot of people tagging quotes on to her statement.

After reading Robert Lindey's blog on all this and the BF Lunch club, I feel kind of ill. It's both amazing and depressing that people will fall for this kind of BS, and it's taking on the proportions of the BF in the freezer hoax, IMO.

I think I'll go clean the horse stalls, much more fun.

That seems to be her.

So, is this where Ketchum has seen her Bigfoot, on Lynne's property?

I always thought the Father of Bigfoot was John Green (and Ray Wallace was its step-dad.) Now, it looks like maybe a space alien or angel is Bigfoot's pappy.

Don't know if this is funny or sad.

Not as far as i know, ketchum sees BF on private property somewhere in southern Oklahoma, i believe. not 100% sure on this. i expect that this is just a fortunate linking of kindred souls, after Melbas real PR woo meister quit!

IMO Melba is not a dumb person and she saw how Meldrum became the 'footer's idol with his weak evidence and imaginary science.
There is no reason she can't do the same, and even replace him as the go-to bigfoot scientist, which I think is her goal.

Dumb? I would say she certainly made a big mistake in listening to Richard Stubstad about DNA. Involving Sally Ramey was another. Losing her business and property was another. All this seems to have happened after she got involved with bigfoot in 2008. Is she dumb? depends on your definition.

There are several reasons why she can't be another Meldrum. I think she is presently making a desperate effort to remain relevant within the bleever community.

(She "coulda been a contenda," if she'd have taken my advice.)

I heard it was a "Texas lease," but wonder now if that was a cover. Anyway, when Ketchum submitted to a video question and answer and it was presented at the Honobia conference two years ago, I remember her saying that she had a friend that told her she had seen a Bigfoot on her property. Ketchum said she believed her friend's story. Don't recall location.

Bigfoot is seen as a taboo subject by many scientists.

And not so taboo by many others. Scientists like Baird, Bambenek, Bayanov, Benson, Bernheimer, Bindernagel, Birkby, Bourne, Bourtsev, Brown, Bryant Jr., Vaughn M., Cartmill, Ciochon, Colarusso, Coltman, Cook, Daegling, Davis, Disotell, Fahrenbach, Fish, Gould, Grieve, Groves, Hadj-Chikh, Halpin, Hertel, Heuvelmans, Higgins, Kerley, Kirlin, Klein, Krantz, Markotic, McCall, Meldrum, Mionczynski, Montagna, Moody, Napier, Nelson, Porshnev, Pyle, Rosen, Sanderson, Sarich, Sarmiento, Schaller, Shackley, Sprague, Stevens, Strain, Suttles, Swindler, Sykes, and Trevor-Deutsch.

I see the myth that 'scientists won't look at bigfoot evidence' is alive and well.

the whole stuidy reeks of a hoax, shes a vetrinarian of all things. How is she qualified to sequence dna. I work in IT, should I be trusted with disarming nuclear warfheads. I would say no.

I wouldnt be shocked to find out that she was put in place to discredit the effort early on. Shes nuts, a little too much so. This thing was a scam from the get go.

So wait, Ketchum claimed that she was sexually assaulted by a bigfoot? Is there a source for this?

Uh, yeah.

Just when you think it can't get any wackier.

I'm just sitting in the audience here, watching this tornado swirling pieces of plywood, shingles, and yard ornaments about its core.

Flabbergasted.

The source for the sexual assault claim was he-who-can't-be-named. I don't think Ketchum has made any such public claim.

Cal and Jodie,

I think that she is referring to sequences that weren't in GenBank and don't match those in the known archaic homos, or apes. This is vintage Ketchum, I think: from the beginning of all this, in that first internet radio interview in October 2010, she has seemed to believe that all human sequences are in GenBank or other databases, and that if it isn't in GenBank, it isn't human. That is not true. Since she still seems to believe that, I don't think she has any collaborating authors who have a grasp of genetics (not to say she hasn't had other labs run specimens).

So, hypothetically, if she sequenced YOUR DNA (I am assuming you are not in GenBank and not an archaic homo and not an ape) she would describe your DNA the same way ie part human, and part of it is non human, non-archiac and non-ape; AKA "angel DNA."

Is that clear?

In other words:
What she has is this:
a)a lot of specimens (80?) and results that she isn't telling us about. These are probably mostly quadrupeds.

and

b)a bunch of human specimens (20?); all these specimens had mtDNA completely sequenced and showed human mtDNA. We don't know how many different haplotypes were found. 3 of these specimens had at least some parts of the nuclear DNA sequenced. Some of these sequences were not in GenBank or other databases of archaics and apes (she called these sequences angel DNA).

I guess the 15000 year thing has to do with the mutation rate of mtDNA. Since the mtDNA was totally human, she is saying the "bigfoots" must have branched off less than 15,000 years ago. I won't go into the whole issue of the haplotypes because we have no data on that, but suffice to say, there ARE issues. And/or provenance issues.

Sorry, but this isn't going to get published by any journal worthy of the designation "Journal."

"It isn't even wrong." --Wolfgang Pauli
I am assuming that this is why she may have gotten a rejection slip that said something like "no testable hypothesis," and "get a zoologist to help you."

Does (Ketchum) not realize that by claiming to have seen BF's, her credibility as a scientist pretty much goes down the toilet in the eyes of her peers?
