Bigfoot DNA

Ed Smith dials up the gibberish rhetoric re Ketchum:
"Okay even if you over look the glaring problems with the providence and chain of custody issues with some of the samples. That does not excuse the, well we might as well say it, negligent use of an appropriate primer set. This paper is going to be ripped apart by the scientific community (if it already hasn't) and then challenged in the courts. This woman doesn't have a clue as to what awaits her even before the question of conservation is brought into play."

Ketchum's publicist finally comes clean (sort of) on what "can't" means:
Sally here - There is a lot of chatter on various forums speculating about the peer-review process. YES, authors can CHOOSE to present their findings pre-publication at conferences. YES, they can CHOOSE to share copies of their paper pre-submission. However, Melba did NOT choose to do any of those things.

Hold on a darned second. I thought there was a Journal imposed EMBARGO. The Journal told the Ketchum Hokum that she could not discuss the paper. The first thread of the sweater just received a little tug, and the string of lies that have been spun are coming unwound. So, if you stretch the truth about the peer review process, what other truth stretching have you embarked upon. Why come clean now ? Maybe because everyone is starting to come around to the fact that this truly is puffery ?

*"bless your heart" is Texan, for "you pore pitiful thang...."

Well, good for them in coming clean about that, and the same thing is true with the alleged "nondisclosure agreement". They need to come clean on that too, now that it has been conceded no journal is requiring it of them.

I see they have posted a second-hand comment from an anonymous published scientist that the 'footers seem to be interpreting opposite of what it says. It confirmed the revised "confessional" version sally just offered, not the original deceptive line about super double secret probation embargos.

But they are vetting this line for the fan club:

ANY scientist working on ground-breaking material typically does NOT choose to do these things

(Giving seminars, conferences, sharing working papers, etc.)

The qualifier they seem to be offering is "ground breaking" or "earth shattering" research being held to this super double secret probation self-embargo.

Ketchum's work is Eienstien quality because like Eienstein, she imposes double super secret probation on herself. The secrecy is proof of how historic the results are. That's not a bad strategy actually - she can surpass eienstien, hawking, darwin, galileo and all the rest of them by never revealing their results.

More bull from the Ketchum Hokum. People doing groundbreaking research want to spread their message far and wide. They want accolades, notoriety, ego stroking, that comes with groundbreaking research AND discussing that research. Instead, the Ketchum Hokum wants all of that without disclosing a thing. The sad thing is that it is fish-on with the believers. I contend again, it's all about the money. I should add they are not sharing, because the gig would be up and they wouldn't be able to peddle their wares.

I agree Jackal.

Faulty science and Hokum is one thing.. the $$ is well.. another. Bigfootery is coming of age again and what better time to cash in on the commodity.

Btw.. I dont know where that BYH comment was directed or why. I like reading your thoughts, opinions on here and look forward to seeing them. I can only assume it was a poorly thought out comment.

While I wholly believe this 'Ketchum Hokum' is a farce of the 69th magnitude, and is in fact simply a shot-in-the-dark grab for some of that much coveted 'fame and fortune', I'm still a little vague on exactly where the 'fortune' part is going to be coming from. I mean, who's going to pay her, and for what? $500 fees as the honored guest speaker at various Bigfoot Revivals? (we know it couldn't be that because they don't even have $500) By the hour expert Bigfoot 'consulting'? Sale of "Bigfoot Is Just Like You And Me" tee shirts on the PETA website? Or, dare I say it, <gulp> a book deal? Maybe it really is just about the 'fame'.

And seriously, WHO THE **** is David Paulides? And why does he like to hang around junior high schools at lunch? (Okay that's JUST A JOKE, we have NO PROOF yet he's a child molester) He's probably several things, one of them being a LYING douchebag. Up until this case, I'd never heard of the maroon.

It seems these idiots regularly come out of the woodwork and they inevitably - somehow - get instant Bigfoot 'grand poobah' status (amongst the retarded faithful) by doing little more than claiming (in their 'yet another' BORING Bigfoot blog) how much of a Bigfoot expert they 'edumacated themselves' to be. I'd bet more money than he's likely got that David Paulides has but only a cursory idea as to what an NDA really does and/or who legitimately uses them. To the cosmos it's an actual legal instrument, apparently to him it's just an ironic 'talking point'. A righteous sounding 'cover' for him and his ilk's BIG LIES.

It is a bit difficult to do an accounting of these sites and the people that are involved.

What is clear from them is that apparently they have managed to accumulate funds from the public with their "exploratory weekends and trips". Between BFRO and the one cited by Library Lady on the other thread (sorry the name of the organization escapes me at the moment)..

It appears that they are selling these things for $300 to $500 pp (with little or no overhead costs) and selling out.

Assuming they sell 30 places a trip @ $400pp that would be a $12,000.00 weekend. Assuming they set up 20 of these weekends.. that is $240,000.00 ?!

Not a bad take down when all they do is set up the trip and have each person pay for their own food, shelter, transportation, etc..

I think this would be like the upper eschelon max, not the results for example of the dude who burned his RV up in Florida on his international bigfoot hunt expedition. I think I remember one picture of an expedition with any people on it for him and it was like eight people including staff. But I think we already looked at one outfit raking it in on this forum. A year ago or something.

So yeah, takin' a bunch of retards on a camping trip. Even if you have to pay the participant camping fees at the state/national parks they go to - it's trivial expense. You can't lose, as long as there are retards.

It is hard to say ? Someone would have to be able to audit their records. Are these sites etc.. non profit ? I have no idea..

Certainly enough $$ to offer a "stipend" or research grant fee to a feral scientist who is making very little money . Or even to entice a Vet ? Just to make the cause look legit, "scientific", and make some more $$.

What is a 'retard'?

I think that ABP used some poor judgment/thought or lack thereof in his description of the "Bigfoolery" folks ? Obviously that term or description is not an acceptable way to describe anyone or anyones actions and hasnt been for a long time?

I dunno, I think it's completely fitting to use said word in regards to someone who is just embarrassingly gullible. Not so much when referring to someone who is actually mentally handicapped.

I think the money trail is two-fold. First, you can continue to dupe your big dollar donor that you need additional funding to study more samples, buy better equipment, fly around and meet other experts, etc. It's an open expense account. I am sure there are some experts in France, Hawaii, etc. that you have to meet with to compare notes. The second part is the book, DVD, speaking engagements, TV shows, expeditions, etc. All you have to do is get it published. Who cares if it is discredited. The excuses will be cronyism, close-minded science, hard core skeptics, whatever. The believers will buy it all as dogma, and you are golden. It's all about the money and being first pig to the trough.

It can be taken as offensive but anyway... but I sincerely dont think it was meant to offend.

Yes, these organizations and folks are taking in money

I am a father of a child (age 15) who puts on the peanut butter first to his sandwich.. I have no idea what that is all about.

. . . child (age 15) who puts on the peanut butter first to his sandwich
Um, what? Are you suggesting that the correct way is to put the jelly on first?

Ketchum's money train: honoraria for speaking at bigfoot conferences, book and DVD sales, establishment of her lab as the go-to place for anyone with a weird hair or bit of poop they think might have come from a bigfoot - analyzed at probably something like $100 a pop.

Her other motivations: adulation from legions of fans, potential to land her own "Finding Bigfoot" television opportunity . . .

IMHO Ketchum's goal is no different than Munns' in that they both want to be famous and replace Meldrum on TV as the go-to bigfoot expert. The money is certainly an added perk and it becomes much more important as the scam progresses but I don't think it is the primary motivation for her or most of the other wannabes.

Munns showed up on a couple programs but he really didn't have anthing new to offer. If Ketchum plays this right she may succeed in being the new bigfoot star.
