Bigfoot DNA

So, you're saying it was a conspiracy?

No, but it could have been. My point was that it is more likely to be a hoax created by a member of the expedition itself or associated with them as opposed to an unrelated and independent hoaxer who climbed to 19K and made a track and simply hoped that somebody would come along and see it before the next snow.

This is true for Bigfoot hoaxes as well. The hoaxer doesn't want to waste time and effort if the possibility of finding is slim. You want to make sure your hoax is seen so you arrange for that.

Another meaningful aspect is that your target audience ought to already be Bigfoot believers or be generally credulous for maximum effect. You only need your evidence to "speak for itself" to a certain extent. You rely on the believer proponents to explain why your hoax is not a hoax. You let them smooth out the rough parts and build consensus among the other believers. Gimlin doesn't explain to skeptics why Patty is real - he lets all the Pattycakes do that for him.

Bigfoot denialists are the greatest enemy of the hoaxer. Just one of them in an audience can ruin a good Bigfoot hoax.

You could spend hours creating a fake trackway across a muddy patch and have some skeptic come along and laugh his ass off right before obliterating the whole line with his boots. And that's before any believer could come along and do some more believing and then pass it along to other believers as legitimate.

Given that the population in general (the public) are Bigfoot doubters it is quite risky for a hoaxer to simply create some tracks and "set the trap" for anybody that happens to find them. I don't mean risk of getting caught in the act but instead is risky for your hoax being regarded as legitimate. Odds are overwhelming that your hoax will be immediately seen as a hoax.

I find it mildly amusing and a tad ironic that a forum the has a dedicated topic with 13 thousand threads and over a million posts denouncing conspiracy theories is now promoting one over here. Just saying.

There is a strong possibility that this is a real conspiracy theory, in stark contrast to the 911, vaccination, Kennedy and the various other nonsensical theories that CT fans bring to us.

First of all, conspiracies do occur (Watergate, Irangate, etc.) you know; the ones being denounced are the ones that are ludicrous.

Secondly, a faked trackway can be a conspiracy of one, can it not?

Don't yell 'proponent' at me, but it didn't.

Here and here.

Mike
I don't think that the color picture from your first link is one of the Ward and Shipton's 1951 (b&w) photographs but I may be wrong.
Do you know where this pic comes from?
I'm just curious.

Dr. Brian Sykes Bigfoot DNA project will air on British TV on Patty Day. Patty Day is October 20. October 20, 1967 is when Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin shot the famous Patty footage at Bluff Creek, California. Is it interesting that he is going to release his earthshaking DNA data on Patty Day? Hmm.

Todd Neiss reports Sykes has “blockbuster findings.” Neiss runs some sort of a Bigfoot research organization in Oregon. He recently stated that although he has been sworn to secrecy, the Sykes DNA study has some blockbuster findings. We have been hearing this sort of thing for a long time now, and it sounds very promising.

Sykes has acquired samples of purported Yeti and Orang Pendek material. A source has just informed me that Sykes has acquired purported Yeti hair and purported Orang Pendek hair. Should be most interesting to see if these samples are valid, how they come back DNA-wise. Adam Davies reports that the Orang Pendek sample comes from him. They are from either an Orang Pendek, a tapir or a tiger. Those are the three animals that he and Cliff Barackman were tracking at the time in Sumatra last year.

What's sort of amazing to me is how this Sykes character, a supposed expert in human DNA/genetics, has any appreciable amount of time to be ******* around with this Bigfoot myth. Yet it appears he's spent literally months and months doing exactly that. Seriously, is he so awesomely wonderous, rich and smart that he learned literally everything there is to know about human DNA and simply became so bored by it he moved on to more exciting abstract subjects like seeking the DNA of mythical creatures? I mean, I don't care if Sykes gets a TV, DVD or just a VD deal, I know what it takes to be considered an (actual) expert in something, and not in a million any years would my list of experts include anyone who doesn't regularly practice whatever it is they are a supposed expert in. Just sayin™. :boggled:
