Apparently reading isn't your strong suit. How about a reference to the event from a "real" newspaper and a "real" journalist:

"Bigfoot Web sites have ample reports from Virginia, with encounters from the Blue Ridge to the Dismal Swamp.

The experiences range in intensity – from no more than other worldly howls in the night heard at Surry’s Chippokes Plantation State Park in 1998 to a 1981 report of a Bigfoot sprinting through the middle of a campground in Chesapeake’s Northwest River Park.
"

Oh, reading isn't my strong suite? You're the one whose first evidentiary link was to the Weekly World News. :D I'm not letting you slide on it either.

Besides, the news about Bigfoot in the other papers isn't any more "real" than that which is "reported" in the Weekly World News. Nice attempt at trying to distance yourself from that one, though. :train

Another sighting to chalk up to Sleep-related.

This morning, I left my home at 0245 as per usual. I stopped in Buena Vista to fuel up and get a coffee. As I came thru the little town of Twin Lakes, I was just feeling tired and the more I drove, the sleepier I got. So before I started up Independence Pass, I thought I would pull over and get some fresh air. (I had just noted that it was 36 degrees on the truck temp. gauge and even took a picture of it on my phone, to send to my brother in Virginia). I pulled over to the left side of the road. As I got out of the truck, I noticed movement in the meadow directly in front of me.

anyone subscribe to Coast to Coast radio?
Among some of the best evidence for the creatures are dermal ridges found in footprints and hair samples left behind at sightings, said Paulides. Joining him in the last hour, Dr. Melba S. Ketchum reported on ongoing DNA testing of possible Bigfoot hair samples, some of which have a combination of human and animal attributes, and are considered anomalous or unknown. She and her team are in the process of preparing a peer reviewed paper that will reveal their complete findings.
Just guessing here, but I'd anticipate Dr. Ketchum's "forensics" trade is gonna dry up if she goes public with this stuff.
"so, Dr. Ketchum, you have testified that by your genetic testing, this was a horse from Mr. Brown's herd; but isn't it a fact that you can't tell a bigfoot from shinola?"

Certain lucky folks see them frequently in Oklahoma. These creatures move on all fours (4X4). Sometimes they think they see a herd of cows but they are actually Bigfoots.

Factual information from a field researcher of Bigfoot.

They will hunt in 4X4 mode to give them extra speed in short distances, they also will cross open areas in 4X4 mode to avoid detection. I've seen a whole troop cross a field in 4X4 mode, initially giving me the impression that it was cows or other animals in the darkness, until they reached the tree line, then stood up and walked into the woods.

With an animal the height of a bigfoot, 4X4 mode and belly crawling are part of their stealth. In Oklahoma and Arkansas, it's accepted by the researchers there, that Bigfoot does go in 4X4 mode quite often. Next time you see what you think is possibly a bear moving across the field, better look a little closer, it may be a Bigfoot crossing in 4X4 mode. And for those who will claim that the reports don't show this trait of Bigfoot, they need to dig deeper, the International Bigfoot Society had multiple reports from across the country that shows Bigfoot were in 4X4 mode.

Every time a 'footer mentions 4x4 mode for added speed I laugh and try to imagine Patty in 4x4 mode. Holy Moses that would be funny to see!!
How can anyone with an ounce of common sense think Patty could gain speed by going 4x4?

There you go. Patty has double-hinged knees. That's why she must walk with a compliant gate. Otherwise her knees would bend backwards.

Where are the 4X4 mode trackways?

Or do the hands become feet in 4X4 mode?

Meldrum hasn't figured this one out yet.

And yet again you prove reading isn't your strong suit. It's ok, keep trying. I'm sure you'll get it eventually.

I understood from the beginning that you thought that linking to two other newspapers that carried the same story could somehow undo the damage to your credibility for linking to The Weekly World News, but it actually doesn't. This isn't the same as linking to the Daily Mail or The National Enquirer; it's far more egregious than that. The Daily Mail and the Enquirer's stories are mostly based on reality and have actual sources (who may or may not be lying/insane); they aren't known for flat-out making things up like The Weekly World News.

The fact that you thought you could gloss over it with a little disclaimer and links to a couple of different newspapers is frankly more astonishing than the whole Bigfoot legend itself. Kindly refrain from ever, ever linking to The Weekly World News again if you intend for people to take your posts seriously.

Edit: You'd have been better off just posting the links to the other two newspapers and leaving the link to The Weekly World News out. Why did you even provide a link to a source that was suspect to begin with?

Egad, someone hath made an error. Let us to punish and humiliate him/her/it. Let us to concoct polemic exaggerations in order to debase and belittle him/her/Xblade.

 Really? "More astonishing than the Bigfoot legend?" Come on, Apology, is it possible you're stretching your point just a weency bit?

From where I'm sitting (yes, it has armrests), X linked to a disreputable source, then offered reputable ones to back up the story. He/she/it didn't commit fraud or forgery, or confidently announce a game-changing revelation that would prove neither game-changing nor revelatory -- certainly nothing so heinous as that.

He made a mistake. It happens to the best of us. Maybe it would be better if we just moved on?

But I'm having so much fun with the links and puns. You have to admit that it was pretty silly of X-Blade to cast aspersions on my intellect after tripping over his own feet and making such a blunder.
