Beatle Bush Bash!

It wasn't the good things he said about Obama that he's catching heat for but rather because he said something like, it's nice to finally have a President that knows what a library is. The exact quote is linked to in the OP.

ETA: The quote is "After the last eight years it's great to have a President who knows what a library is."

From the article linked in the OP…
McCartney ended the evening taking a baseless cheap shot at former President George W. Bush.

“After the last eight years, it’s great to have a President who knows what a library is,” McCartney quipped.

Hailing from England and having earned no university degrees of his own, the Beatle may not know W. was the first American president to earn a master’s degree in business administration. (The fact the MBA is from Harvard really irks the left.) Not to mention Bush is married to a librarian.

So really, all this was was a rather shameful display of ignorance on Mr. McCartney's part. Nothing surprising about it, really.

Is someone picking on a conservative again? All the little baby conservatives looking for an apology now? Remember - 'sticks and stones'?

Suck it up - grow up! Thats what we were told in the military.

Oh, thats right, most of these conservatives you're talking about avoided the military, didn't they!

C'mon. Bush was, and remains, a complete dingbat. Paul McCartney's allowed to point that out.:D
There is no sin in hurting yourself. The only real sin lies in hurting others unnecessarily" Robert A Heinlein.
Can't say that I would have a drink with any of the liburlz here, with the attitude they seem to have.
Tea-baggers, either.

Sin? Define sin, if you will. If you're trying to inject morality into politics - good luck with that.

Also he needs to apologize for the lyrics to Live and Let Die.

"But if this ever-changing world in which we live in..."

Makes me wonder if he was the one who taught Alannis Morisette the meaning of "ironic".
I used to think that too, but now I'm pretty sure it's "in which we're livin'"

And since when does complimenting one president specifically say something negative about another, particularly since there have been 9 presidents since Paul McCartney got godlike levels of fame for his music?

Okay, that is specific.... ally hilarious! Good to see he can still write.

What's the problem? Boehner is outraged? Like that's a surprise?

Bush got into Yale because of his dad's influence and I thought he was a self admitted slacker during college.

Being a college grad is not a guarantee of having a broad intellectual background just as not going to college is not a guarantee one is not well versed in intellectual endeavors. I think it's pretty well established Bush was not known for having much "curiosity" about the world.

Reading a lot is not relevant either if all you read are comic books. This is an interesting commentary about Bush's prolific reading as claimed by Rove (if you believe it is the truth and not just a campaign image).
In his column, Rove says that Bush read 95 books in 2006 alone. In 2007, he read 51 books and as of last week, he had read 40 in 2008. The numbers are precise because Bush challenged Rove to a contest: who could read the most books. ...

It is awfully late in the day for Rove -- and, presumably, Bush -- to assert the president's intellectual bona fides. Now feeling the hot breath of history, they are dropping the good ol' boy persona and picking up the ol' bifocals one. But the books themselves reveal -- actually, confirm -- something about Bush that maybe Rove did not intend. They are not the reading of a widely read man, but instead the books of a man who seeks -- and sees -- vindication in every page. Bush has always been the captive of fixed ideas. His books just support that.

The list Rove provides is long, but it is narrow.....

"Sir Paul McCartney's cheap shot aimed at former President George W. Bush at a White House event on Wednesday has prompted House Minority Leader John Boehner to demand an apology from the Beatle.

McCartney literally gushed over President Obama throughout his East Room concert. “Getting this prize would just be good enough, but getting it from this president…” McCartney said letting his praise trail off as if there were vast volumes left unsaid."

I thought it was funny. No apology needed.

Paul continues to remind us he was never the funny Beatle.

"Many years ago, I was fishing, and as I was reeling in the poor fish, I realised, 'I am killing him – all for the passing pleasure it brings me'. Something inside me clicked. I realised as I watched him fight for breath that his life was as important to him as mine is to me."

That vegan diet has not only killed off too many brain cells, but it has turned his hair the same color as Donald Trump's.

Just let it be.

I was always under the impression it was "but if this ever changin' world in which we're living..."

But he should still apologise for the Frog Chorus, Mull of Kintyre, Silly Love Songs, Simply Having a Wonderful Christmastime... continued page 94.

I have to strongly disagree with your sentiment regarding ...Wonderful Christmastime. That is a great Christmas song, in fact it is a classic. I know because my children tell me so, and children know Christmas.

That says more about you than it does about Sir Paul. Considering the OP was about a cheap shot, you nailed it in one with the Trump stinker.
