Barack Obama: it is no longer essential to kill Osama bin Laden

I never thought killing bin Laden was essential. It definitely would have been nice, but not essential.

I don't suppose anyone noticed that he said it was essential to our security goals, which may or may not be true. He didn't say capturing or killing bin Laden was no longer an objective.

If we get what looks like good intelligence as to Bin Ladin's whereabouts, you can bet Obama will approve taking a shot at him.

It's called a war, guy. And Bin Laden started it on 9/11.
Sorry, but you can't just send a cop with an arrest warrent out in this situation.
But maybe that's all a Swiss would do, and thus all a Swiss could conceive of. (No idea, DC is an unusual character.)

Note the very small land area of the country called Switzerland.

Coincidence? I think not.

DR

Al Qaeda, Bin Laden, whatever... they're a symptom. Wack at them all you like, it won't achieve anything. The danger is ideology, not terrorism. Forget the suicide bombers and the aircraft hijackers. It's the imams in the radical mosques and the teachers in the radical schools that need to be taken out.

Why waste the energy to track down one guy when there's entire generations being raised to replace him?

Funny how frequently Americans say this in wars where their own civilians are not at significant stake, and when it's 'good guys' breaking said rules:rolleyes:.

Israelis attacking Arab bases with airplanes without first declaring war? Perfectly justified.
Japanese doing the same thing at Pearl Harbour? Totally uncalled for, PO'd America.

No matter how much you disrespect 'the Swiss', rules matter in war as much as in every other scenario, buddy.

Is there a reason why you're going around in various threads, copy-pasting that one-sentence post and link without otherwise contributing to the thread:confused:?
Yes.
Ah, 'k. Seemed like mindless spamming (which is against forum rules as far as I know) to me, but if you say so.

That the Arabs were, by any indication, getting ready to launch an attack on Israel does not enter into your reasoning, I see.
Last I heard America was not planning to attack Japan.
Apples and Oranges.
Frankly, this kind of stuff is why a great many Americans have a low opinion of Euros.

Yes and Bush was savaged for taking the exact same stance. Since Obama has been receiving presidential level intelligence briefings it is amazing how much he appears to have learned.

It's War? Rule od Law Not applicable?

its not like we humans didnt have laws for wars...

But it looks like alot americans are not aware of that, that explains alot....

Yes. I was one of the posters who complained when GWB said

And, again, I don't know where he is. I -- I'll repeat what I said. I truly am not that concerned about him. I know he is on the run. I was concerned about him, when he had taken over a country. I was concerned about the fact that he was basically running Afghanistan and calling the shots for the Taliban.

So it is only fair to admit that BHO's comments disappoint and vex me.
