Bachmann pwnd by 8 year old 'activist'

Five quid on A, which would be the standard reaction to being informed of parents' sexual preference by a six-year old. More so if it's in public.

So you really get thrown for a loop finding out that a child has a mother and father? That discloses the parents sexual preference as well.

Well in fairness, if a small child came up to me and said 'My mommy is straight and she doesn't need fixing' I may have a rather puzzled / quizzical look on my face for a bit.

He's 8. Which means that he is old enough to understand that his mother faces discrimination for being gay. He may have asked why his mom hasn't married her girlfriend, he may have been kicked out of a private school, or he may have just overheard someone calling her ugly names. This would lead to an age-appropriate conversation about how some people think his mommy needs to be "fixed" because she is different.

The mother may have staged this, but the child understood what he was saying and didn't hesitate.

Well, I think its obvious that it was staged.

One can safely assume that a lesbian mom isn't going to take her son to a Michele Bachmann book signing out of some fan/voter based desire to say 'howdy'.

And the mom can be heard encouraging the kid to go up and talk to Michele. While holding a camera to record the event.

So - I'd say its 100% likely that the event was staged. Its probably also quite likely that the words were put in the kid's mouth - since obviously if one is going to stage the event, one wants to make sure it doesn't become a non-event.

You're right Bookitty, that the kid seemed quite heartfelt, and I'm sure he's had awkward questions raised to him about his parental situation.

But mom was manipulating here, and that just is greasy. The fact that I agree with the mom's PoV about Michele Bachmann doesn't enter into it.

Yes. I'd need a second or two to wonder why the kid is even telling me this, and to figure out how to react, and whether it's some sort of ploy to make me look like a deer in the headlights. Which, in this case, it was.

For example, if a kid had said his mommy and daddy were Black and White. Yes, and? Why are you telling me this, kid?

So she taught him a way to fight back that is better, in the long run, than taking an AK to school and settling it with the bullies.

If Bachmann had the mental wattage to run a pistol bore inspection light, she would know that it is a slap at her and her husband's gay-curing charlatanry. Most of the country knows what a fraud that lunatic is.

The kid has probably already been a victim of that odious little twit's actions. He got a chance to fight back without running the risk of getting injured.

We need more people, of all ages, to resist the spread of slime like Michelle and Marcus.

I doubt this 8 year old understands the issue at all. Did he come up with this opinion on his own? Did he think up what he would say to Mrs. Bachmann?

Do you think that, years from now, he'll regret not thinking that his mommy didn't need to be "fixed"?

I doubt it.

All I know about Bachmann, incidentally, is that she's basically the new Sarah Palin, and very conservative. A quick Wiki check shows she's not exactly in line with my own political beliefs.

I still can't condone using your 8-year old to intentionally embarrass someone in a bid for Youtube fame. Or 7-year old, or 9-year old, you get the idea.

Very obviously staged, and I do not approve of any people using children for any political purposes.

Whether or not it's appropriate to "use" your children for things like this is open for debate. But I think it's unfair to write this off as some kind of politically-motivated stunt. When politicians like Michelle Bachmann engender hatred and fear about you and your lifestyle and are actively seeking to infringe upon your rights, it becomes about more than mere politics.

And he is telling you their sexuality!!!!!!!!!

The thing is that it is something that comes up.

It didn't "come up", it was specifically bought up, in a manner meant to put Bachmann on the spot. I'd still be confused whether the kid had said his parents were straight, black, white, asian, transsexual, purple, polka-dotted, whatever.

I think at this point the only real reason Bachmann continues to run is so that she could be potential VP material. Ah, shades of 2008...

I'm not convinced she understood what the child said even after the second time.

The point you seem to be missing is that it is BROUGHT up all the time BY people like Bochman and other right wing looneys and THEY usetheir children all the time.

Or do you believe that the 10, 12, and 14 year olds that bullied the gay kid till he killed himself all independently decided that being gay is evil?!

Conservatives use their kids for political purposes every time they drag them to church on Sunday or force them to go to private or catholic schools to keep them away from the "bad elements" they could encounter in the public school system.

As bookitty stated, in today's US with all the busy body buybull thumpers it is almost UNLIKELY that this kid at 8 has not heard at least a few disparaging remarks about his mother. 8 may be a bit too young but I don't see any difference between this and all the African American parents who put their kids on school buses to force de segregation when all the white rednecks were out screaming N***** go home.

Ah, so that's why non-conservatives should be able to use their kids for like purposes. I stand corrected.
