Baby rapist put on probation

Just put this thing in prison for a few weeks... and dump it in general population, and let justice take its course from there.

In reality, in today's prison environment even a baby raper can stay safe if he can buy protection (which is absolutely true of him) and they keep their head down.

The inmates that are generally subject to victimization are loners (not in a ethnic or gang crew) w/o the ability to buy protection from the major players in a given institution.

I don't know this guy or his case from a bag of beans, but on the face of it something doesn't look right to my eye.

I'm aware of instances where judges used sentencing discretion in determining that a given defendant shouldn't be incarcerated due to extenuating circumstances arising from their age, sexual identity or mental or physical health, but never in a case this serious.

Due process is a wonderful thing if you happen to be wealthy and well connected. As for the rest of you: know your place, peasant!
You have any evidence that the defendant got a light sentence because he was 'wealthy and well connected', or is it just supposition?

I bet numerous similar cases have been plea-bargained down to a lesser charge because the prosecution didn't have a strong enough case, and many defendants (both rich and poor) 'got off' with a lighter sentence because it was their first offense and they voluntarily took counseling.

But for some reason you didn't hear about all those other cases. Why not? Because they didn't have the right combination of novelty and innuendo that would have made them 'newsworthy'. Remember, the news media's primary goal is to make money, not to inform. And they have found that feeding our outrage gets much better results than presenting boring facts in context.

"I bet" doesn't exactly inspire confidence of the evidence at your disposal that our criminal justice system is applied in an evenhanded way regardless of personal wealth or political connections.

Biden completely undermines his own point in that article by admitting that the perpetrator actually apologised to the child's mother for what he'd done.
So there was very little evidence apart from the guy owning up to his crime.

Regardless of whether a plea deal was appropriate or not, the judge's comments about the rapist were utterly inappropriate.
That she appears to have changed her mind from a fairly lengthy jail sentence of eight years to absolutely no jail time also suggests that she had quite a drastic shift of opinion in a short period of time.
I'd love to hear an explanation of why that happened.

Bear in mind ravdin, RR cheered on the judge for not putting the rapist in prison.

On the off chance I am being misinterpreted (not that I generally concern myself with that), I trust we have all noted that nowhere have I applied my attitudes to petty or bigger thieves, shoplifters, grifters, pickpockets, drug dealers who do not murder anyone/ harm anyone(beyond selling them the drugs), producers of pornography (except the obvious or real violence items) prostitutes... I do apply it for rapists, active pedophiles, most murderers, torturers, assault with more than very minor physical damage, kidnappers, terrorists and those who assist any of these. Hopefully this helps. At basic, I am fine with the Norway, etc. system ON NON-VIOLENT CRIMINALS. And I am happily supportive of my preferences on violent criminals. I want them out of my world and I want them to leave it knowing without question that they had done wrong and been helped to repent.

The problem with your approach lies in the fact that it isn't your world and I, for one, would rather you didn't act on my behalf (if you are ever compelled to do so of course).
